I’ve always loved this Shakespeare quote, “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” And this Mama and baby just went through so much at the end of pregnancy. It was so sweet when they were finally home to get to photograph this sweet family together. The best thing about lifestyle newborn sessions is just that – just being home and being together. All you have to do is wake up + try to get ready. (as much as possible with a newborn around, right!?) It’s so much easier than trying to pack a diaper bag and load up the car and figure out how to get somewhere on time. I really treasure the newborn photos I have of my family that are in our home, our space.

The boys were wondering when they woke up where the snow was but it’s finally starting to pour from the sky. And it’s sticking! All Harrison has been talking about is how he wants to make a snowball. And Owen is traipsing around the house with all his minecraft gear, trying to build forts and hideouts. (They got crazy forts  for Christmas so this is taking up a lot of their time! They are loving it!) These are the best parts of the snow days. I admit, I’m still not all the way unpacked from Disney, but I’d still like to take some time to make snowflake  cookies today in between editing. Or these look like snow! We will see if it happens! What are some special snow day recipes you are making today?

That Little Lovey

Raleigh Family Photographer

We were realllly blessed this fall that it did not rain one day of our scheduled mini sessions. (I mean, it was kind of a miracle) It was cloudy the day of our Organic Family Minis + so we had to start a little early, but I love the moody beautiful images cloudy light produces. We were even able to catch some fall colors in the background. We first met this sweet family last year at our Christmas Tree In Home Minis, and it was so great to see them again! I love that she brought her little lovey, and were able to capture some images with it, too! Little ones get attached to things only for a short time, and it’s so great to document those sweet days.

Since everyone is probably on snow patrol today. (Is it realllly going to happen?) I snuck out early after carpool to the grocery store before everyone is headed there to empty all the shelves of milk and bread. Snow days to me means hot chocolate, pot roast, making cookies, pancakes and bacon. What are your favorite snow day foods + recipes? After reading The Lifegiving Table, I’m trying to be more focused on special foods for special days. I am interested to hear later today if the schools will close. (Who’s already checking WRAL?!?)

Raleigh Holiday Mini Sessions Photography

I’m going to be posting so many Holiday minis in January because I am playing catch up from the crazy busy fall. I have loved photographing this sweet family the past couple of years, and their boys are just so much fun, it’s been so sweet to see little sister joining in on all the fun. I love how her sweet personality just adds so much to the session. I think we were all laughing just trying to keep her in the same place as her brothers!

So with the snow coming tomorrow, it has me thinking about board games. I feel like I need to amp up our stash a little bit, especially when snow days come. What are some of your favorite board games? When I was a kid, I lovvvved Monopoly . And on show days, the neighborhood kids – we would all play in the snow for a while and then head inside to play Monopoly . Because in NC, one little snowfall can turn into three days off of school, sometimes our monopoly games went on for days. Owen is actually a huge fan of the game, and it was really cute..He had a playdate with a few friends who are also huge monopoly fans over the winter break, and the boys played for hours. Their rules are a little bit made up and hilarious, but as long as they are having fun, right? So, if anyone has any great recommendations for other games to look into, please let me know! Ok, onto the milk and bread.

Raleigh Mini Maternity Photography

It was so great to meet these two this past fall – we had a beautiful evening capturing their maternity portraits. Maternity sessions are always so much fun, documenting those last days before you meet your sweet baby! These two laugh and have so much fun together and it was easy to capture that on camera. I forgot just how beautiful this park can be at sunset, and we even used a spot I’d never been to before. Oh, and I’ve always loved the barn at this park, it’s so beautiful!

I can’t believe just how chilly this winter has become! Brrr!! We just spent a week in Florida (Disney World, yay!!!) in the 70s and 80s and it was hard to come home with the threat of snow. I haven’t even been grocery shopping yet because the thought of putting on 800 layers and leaving the house just sounds like torture with this weather. So instead, I’m in front of the computer editing, watching my latest Netflix series..(right now it’s When Calls The Heart) I may or may not have my Beauty and the Beast Tea  with honey, of course, right with me. (I brought this back from Disney World, and it’s so yummy, I was excited to see it’s on Amazon!!!) I might be using my Chip mug , too! heheheh!  Just wanted to share this sweet session before it’s back to editing!

   Little Blue Truck

Raleigh Christmas Truck Mini Sessions Photographer

I was really excited when Ericka and I chatted about Little Blue Truck Christmas Mini Sessions. These were just so much fun at Back Achers Christmas Tree Farm in Raleigh. We had perfect weather, and all of the kiddos were jus so excited about the blue truck. I love the props Ericka picked out so much, too! The little tree and the lantern were adorable. These two boys together are so so cute, and I love all of the images of this sweet family.

I have to admit, I’m not a huge winter fan. (Being cold is my least favorite thing, ever) Michael bought me tickets to a play in NYC for Christmas and I asked if we could push it out to Spring, ha! I don’t even own a coat warm enough for NYC and we usually don’t need one that warm here in North Carolina….although this week is pretty frosty. But, I have to say, Christmas is a part of winter and I love Christmas. Ok, best parts of winter 1.Christmas. 2.Christmas break (see a trend here) 3.Snow Days (I like looking at the snow and being outside for about five minutes, ha!) 4.Hot chocolate every.single.day. 5.Reading Good books. I have more time in winter to read, which is my favorite! What’s your favorite part of winter?
