That Sweet Little Bow

Sometimes the littlest things take up the most room in your heart.

-Winnie the Pooh

These two big brothers were so super cute with their baby sister and you could tell that they just lovvvved her. One brought popcorn to sit and watch while we finished her portraits at the end, soo cute! It was really sweet that this family waited to find out the gender and were surprised with a baby girl! Loved meeting this sweet family and photographing them with their baby girl at home. Oh, and that little pink bow, the sweetest!

According to Mom…

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time? I was waiting for the words, “Its a boy!” and instead my husband, Zach said in disbelief and tears, “Jess! It’s a girl! It’s a girl!!” It was a really beautiful moment.

What was your favorite part of our session together? I was a nervous-wreck the morning of our session and Becky put me at ease. She was so kind to my boys and cared about getting the shots that I wanted. She also didn’t rush us and worked around our crazy crew.

How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you worried or nervous beforehand? I was nervous that it wouldn’t turn out because my boys were so excited that day and were constantly moving around, but the pictures turned out better than I could have expected. Thank you, Becky!

Do you have any other children? How did they react to the baby? Any cute stories to share? I have two boys, Sawyer and Rhett, and they have been the best big brothers. Sawyer lovingly caresses her cheek throughout the day and Rhett brings her bows whenever hers falls out. I can’t wait for them to all grow up together and play.

How would you describe your perfect Saturday as a family? One that is spent outside with no phones and no distractions. Just enjoying each other’s company.

So Much Love

Raleigh Newborn Photographer

This session at home was just perfect..So much love surrounding this sweet baby boy! (See their maternity portraits here) You just never know what will happen with babies, but this little one, he just slept and slept and slept. He kept dreaming throughout most of the session. The colors that they picked out for their session were just so beautiful together. I love this session so much in color and in black and white. Neutrals and simplicity can also just look stunning in black and white. Another thing I loved about this session is that her Mama was able to be there and be in a few photos. Grandparents can be such a big help at newborn sessions.

We just got back from a short trip to New York City this weekend (So much to share about this trip!) I am really missing all of the amazing food in NYC (ha!) I was a little worried that there might be a lot of bad weather and snow, but we just missed it, thank goodness, and then got home a few hours before it started snowing here. While being gone, we booked a lot of newborns (I love newborns so much!) so if you want to get on the calendar for summer/fall, shoot me an email quick! So excited about all of the babies coming up.

If you follow me on social media, then you’ve probably seen these beautiful Addis Jemari leather bags. Several of you have asked me about purchasing them, and all the new bags are now up on their site! So many pretty bags….loved so many of them, and the girls being photographed just oohed and ahhed over them, too. See all of the bags for sale on their website here. (They also have jewelry, scarves, and more.)

The mission of Addis Jemari, from their website.

“Our mission is working with teenage girls who are orphaned or find themselves in vulnerable positions. We strive to encourage, educate, and empower them through the work of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We seek to help these girls by encouraging them in the truth that everyone is created in God’s image and therefore have immense value. Educating and equipping these girls will transform their lives from day- to-day survival to a life that flourishes and thrives with new purpose.  As we empower these girls to grow into the young women God has created them to be, it will change their future and allow them a new beginning, preparing them to come alongside others in similar life circumstances. Our prayer is these girls will not only impact their community, but the world.”

You can also sponsor the family and staff of Addis Jemari, the Addis Jemari girls, or contribute to their healthcar or education. Find out more here.

Soda Shoppe Minis

Raleigh Family Photography

Raleigh Family Photography P I N this to pinterest

One thing I love about S and T’s Soda Shoppe is all the beautiful antiques they have collected and have on display at the restaurant. A lot of time and thought went into the restaurant, and everywhere you look, there is another fun antique. If you are an antique lover, it is definitely worth the trip to Pittsboro. (You can read more about S and T’s in an Our State Magazine article here, and there are some more pictures of the antiques, too!)

This made me a little nostalgic about places I went as a kid that were special to me. Yum Yum of Greensboro is the best place for ice cream and a hotdog. It’s an 112 year old business, and last year there was an car accident that forced it to close for a few weeks. Everyone went into panic mode, but they were able to get everything fixed and reopened. This also made me think a little bit about what special places am I taking my kiddos + the memories we are making. (And they are definitely fans of S and T’s Soda Shoppe + the strawberry milkshake! My boys lovvvve strawberry.)

Our mini sessions are ten minute long usually for just the kids sessions, (sometime we have family sessions, too!) and these two giggled all the way through their session. We had to stay right on time for these, no wiggle room, and Ericka and I always do our best to go as fast as possible. (The outfits on these two, oh my, ADORBS! I love the Soda Shoppe minis so much!)

Those Lashes

I love baby milestone sessions in the studio, and with the weather right now, it’s the perfect time for indoor portraits. Some days can be super warm and some are freeezing, it’s just hard to tell what the weather will be like this time of year. This little one was so absolutely adorable with his Mama, just wanting to snuggling her and giving us lots of laughs, too. So many precious portraits, can’t wait to share all of them!
