S and T’s Soda Shoppe Minis

This was one of those minis where we didn’t have a lot of extra time planning ahead, and I was so impressed how the Mamas were able to get wardrobe together in such a short amount of time. (See more of our S and T’s Soda Shoppe Valentine Minis here) Their dresses and his little vest with the bowtie were perfect. Ericka and I went to the Soda Shoppe beforehand..and I may have gone three times. (my boys were so in love with the place..so many strawberry milkshakes and banana splits!) That banana split was pretty amazing looking! I think I might just have to go back and try it ha! I have mostly gotten the strawberry milkshake because my four year old loves everything strawberry and the milkshakes are so huge that you can split them. (And now as I’m typing this, I now reallly want some ice cream. Good thing I am too tired to go anywhere)

The styled minis are so much fun to plan from start to finish. We have quite a few Spring/Summer minis planned, including our Coastal minis. Most of our minis are almost sold out, so if you are interested in a Spring/Summer styled mini in 2018, contact us ASAP. So many fun sessions planned for 2018. Sometimes we repeat a mini, but we also like to throw in some unique ones like this super fun Soda Shoppe Mini. Let’s Go to The Shoppe

One of the best parts of S and T’s Soda Shoppe is the music. (I love this song…..so kinda where I got the title of this post from) I grew up driving around in my daddy’s big truck listening to oldies so I just love them so much…and I can probably tell you all the words to any oldies songs. Of course, we had to take some pictures with the beautiful jukebox at S and T’s. And when you are there, you get to listen to the music so totally adds to the authenticity of the Shoppe. One thing I love about these images is how much I love them in color and in black and white. The Soda Shoppe vintage look is so pretty in black and white!

Can we just talk for a minute about how cute this Mama dressed her little ones? We just could not stand the cuteness when they got there. And their hair, amazing! Love every single image of these three! And the fact that she threw their outfits together within a week was equally impressive. (You can see all the new releases from this adorable clothing line here) Can we also talk about the ice cream and milkshakes we had during the shoot? I was so impressed at the kids being so patient and I am still shocked that no one tried to take a bite at all during the mini sessions! This was our last mini session of the morning and Ericka was so amazing at keeping us on schedule.  Sometimes we can kind of relax and not stress about time, but this was one of those days where we didn’t have even an inch of wiggle room and had to stay right on schedule. I can not stress about the time schedule as much sometimes and Ericka will make sure everything is running smoothly. Of course, she is awesome.

S and T’s Soda Shoppe

Raleigh Valentine’s Day Mini Sessions

 

So I’m probably going to go back and share each and every one of these sessions on the blog because I love them so much! This was a bucket list of mine..one of those sessions Ericka and I have talked about for forever…and we were just so so happy and thankful that we got to make it happen this year. First of all, if you have not been to S and T’s Soda Shoppe in Pittsboro, just go ahead and take your kids. You will lovvvve it. It’s worth the drive if you are in Raleigh, and they also have fun antique stores and a super cute toy store in town. There’s also a woodworking school next to the Soda Shoppe. (Pretty much, I heart Pittsboro) We were able to use a very limited amount of time at the Soda Shoppe and so we only had a limited number of spots. And we soaked up every single second that we were there. Ericka and I were running around like crazy, whirling the kids through a fun time at the Soda Shoppe with ice cream. And some of us stayed for lunch. S and T has been featured in Our State Magazine and is just such a neat spot if you are an antique (or ice cream, ahem!) lover. If you were a fan of the Rathskeller in Chapel Hill, they also serve some famous things from their menu including The Gambler and famous Bowl of Cheese.  They are open from Tuesday to Saturday, and you can read over all of their history here. If you go, make sure you get ice cream for dessert, either  a milkshake or banana split (yum!) Harrison absolutely loved the Soda Shoppe and keeps asking when we are going back!

Raleigh Newborn Photography

A little glimpse into the sweetness of this newborn session this week. I absolutely love all of the joy that surrounds a new baby. Sometimes grandparents are also at the session which just adds to the joy. (And how wonderful to have the help when you have a new baby!) And this little one, he slept through most of the session, just so content to be snuggled by his Mommy and Daddy. (And his grandma got in on the snuggles, too!) Grandparents are always included in the newborn session. And it is so, so nice, to have your newborn session at home. We don’t usually use a lot of the room so how decorated your house is doesn’t matter. The focus is on you and the love for your new baby, all without having to leave the comfort of your own home. When it’s time to feed your baby, it’s just nice to have all of your stuff and your comfortable spot. And all your blankets and diaper changing supplies, everything is right there. Ericka also helps with picking out wardrobe, and I can help with last minute wardrobe decisions when I arrive. This was one of those sessions that was just so calm and sweet, and a joy to photograph in their home. Our spring is booking up with newborns – contact us soon if you want to get on the calendar!

Christmas All Year Long

Raleigh Airstream Photography

Last night I finally watched the When Calls the Heart 2017 Christmas special. (I found it on the you tube app on the tv) So I mean, why not keep celebrating all year long! There’s still so much cuteness to share from our 2017 Holiday minis. (And I had just finished season 4 of When Calls the Heart, so now I just have to wait for season 5, ha!) Everytime I come to the end of a show, whether I liked it or not, it’s sad, because I have to find something else to watch when I edit. Sometimes Michael laughs at me because the show may just be really really boring but I don’t want to go through the effort of finding another one, ha, and I’m invested in the story enough. Like when I watched Lost. The beginning was great, but the more I kept watching and it turned into sci-fi, it was like ahhhhhhh. And Michael’s like WHY! Why are you still watching this?! Because I might as well stick to the end at this point and it’s something to watch while I edit and I don’t have to figure out something else to watch. Because, when I start trying to find a new show, I will watch the first episodes of many before I commit, and I just don’t like to spend the time on that mess. Don’t you just love hearing about my tv habits?

I just love these three – so sweet together and always so much fun to photograph. They’ve been to enough minis to know that they are super quick, they get fun props, and that Ericka and I will act as crazy as possible to make them laugh. Their mama also always picks out the prettiest clothes for them (Just wait until you see their Valentine’s outfits!!! More this week on that!)
