The New Baby
North Raleigh Newborn Photographer
It is summer, which means both of my boys are with me during the day, when I’m not working, and also we are spending a lot of time outside. If we aren’t outside or at the pool, chances are we are at the library. I lovvve summer reading and really just reading in general, and my boys definitely have a love of books. We are always scanning the bookshelves, looking up books online and reserving them, talking about books, and well, reading. (When I get a minute…) We drove to Greensboro for Father’s Day and so riding in the car is always an excuse to read, when I don’t have to be driving. (I just finished The Jane Austen Project, it was so so good, especially if you are a Jane Austen fan, kind of a historical fiction kind of book) All that being said, the boys and I are big bookworms..I was thinking about and laughing about the other day, what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have no clue why, but I always wanted to be a writer for the New York Times. My childhood was spent journaling and writing, so writing and being a reporter makes sense..but now I couldn’t even imagine it! I did also take a lot of photos, and can still remember waiting for film to come back in the mail or an hour at the drug store! I’ll have to tell you all about my experiences in developing film another day..
This sweet summer baby boy was a treat to photograph with his older siblings. (How sweet that they were reading My New Baby and even read Happy Birthday to You! to their baby brother!) I first met this family in the early days of my business and have been photographing them since their oldest was three months old! I’ll never forget that sweet session in their front yard. We’ve had several sessions over the years in their house just hanging out and playing with their toys which is so much fun! Their baby brother was just loved on so much the day of his portraits, and he even smiled about it a little! So fun when newborns smile!
According to Mom…
What was your favorite part of our session together? The best thing about having a session at home is that everyone is more relaxed and you get pictures that reflect your normal everyday lives. I love the pictures of the siblings in their rooms.
How did you prepare the baby for our photoshoot? The nice thing about having the session at home is that the baby was ready to go-nothing extra needed.
How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you nervous or worried beforehand? Our experience could not have gone better. Becky is amazing with the kids and is able to get them to relax so the pictures look so natural. This is my favorite part about sessions with Becky.
What would be your advice to someone else having their newborn photographs taken? Look through the blog to get ideas of what you do and do not want for your family pictures. Get your outfits ready before the baby arrives and let Ericka help.
