Raleigh Newborn Lifestyle and Family Photography - February Goals

I really love being a photographer - I really have so much fun and have met so many great friends. I love working, coming up with new ideas, and watching the magic come alive when I see all the photos after a session. So it is hard for me to take a break, but you know what, this little guy has been good for me. He is making me slow down and rest. (but not sleep - ha!) I had this big to do list of things I was going to get done in January (you know - when I was still pregnant but not taking any more sessions before the baby was born) I’m realizing the big list can wait - spending most of my day snuggling little man, building legos with Owen, and online grocery shopping. (best thing ever if you have not tried it!) Oh, and sometimes we go to the starbucks drive thru and sometimes Michael leaves coffee on the nightstand for me when I wake up, because coffee is totally my love language.

February is my last full month of maternity leave before I will start working again…and I’m realizing maternity leave really is a necessity. Of course I can’t put the camera down, and I’ve so enjoyed capturing Owen’s love for his brother - these days are too sweet. I have heard from several people about spring sessions and those dates are almost all booked up. Dates are almost finalized for the Coastal Sessions - I am overwhelmed at the response this year. I’ll let you know the final dates either this week or next week - keep checking facebook/the blog for updates. (If you aren’t on facebook - bloglovin’ is great for following all of your favorite blogs. And of course, you can find me on twitter, instagram, and google plus, too.)

Goals for February:

Finish and announce winners for 2013 Image of the Year (voting ends soon - click here!) Thanks so much to everyone who participated!

Finalize Coastal Session dates and a surprise or two for 2014 clients

Video more time of my two boys together

Update packaging/business cards with new logo

Raleigh Baby Mini Session Photography - Hello Adorable!

We met the week before Christmas for a first year mini session for this handsome little guy. How cute is he?!? And his mama had some super cute things picked out for him - how adorable is that monkey hat? (Um yes. if you’ve heard my hospital newborn hat story with Owen..then you know that I LOVE hats.) I still can’t believe I finished editing and e-mailed this session a few hours before my water broke on Christmas Eve!

When you book a newborn session, you have the option of adding on a mini maternity and three other mini sessions during the first year. (Mini sessions include Mom, Dad, and baby.) It’s a perfect session to document how much they change and grow the first year. (I’ve already scheduled Mommy and Me portraits for Harrison and I at four months - can’t wait!!) I just love seeing how little ones grow and change, and the first year is just so special. The great thing about mini sessions is they don’t take long, we can plan them at home (love this sweet mini session at home) - in your house or backyard, and it’s great for capturing sweet moments with your little one.

Don’t forget - Round one of the 2013 Image of the Year ends tomorrow at midnight. I’ve been so overwhelmed at the response to the contest - thanks everyone for voting! It’s going to be close for the 6 finalists which will be announced on the blog!

and one more thought…anyone else hoping for snow tomorrow night? Not just flurries..I mean, SNOW!

Crystal Elaine - Thank you for capturing his happy personality! You truly went above and beyond. He was so stuffy and just not feeling well, and I can’t believe the great photos from that session. :)

Raleigh Newborn Photographer - My Sweet Boys

I never got around to a January goals post this month, because when having a newborn, my goals have been more like remembering to eat and trying to take at least one nap during the day this month. Also, getting everything ready for the 2013 Image of the Year has been a major goal. And trying to snap a few images of Harrison here and there before he gets super big. Just love seeing his sweet face - cuddling and snuggling him every day. It still feels unreal that he is four weeks old. I feel like I blinked and the first month passed. Though I am looking forward to more sleep soon. (I hope!) I love this image of his sweet face - not sure if I like it better in color or black and white.

…….and I just realized I never shared our Christmas card image - I took Owen out in the yard at sunset (you know I love gorgeous evening sunset light) for a few snapshots and this one ended up being our favorite. Doesn’t he look so big?

Oh, and don’t forget to vote in Round One of the 2013 Image of the Year here. (You can vote once a day!) Round One will be ending Tuesday evening. The finalists will be announced Wednesday on the blog and then Round Two will start. Super excited about this contest + having so much fun planning a few more surprises for 2014.

You know I’ve been taking a lot of naptime images lately (see here and here) I couldn’t resist snapping this one of his lashes while I had the macro lens out.

Lifestyle Newborn Photographer Raleigh, N.C. - Last Baby of 2013

This was my last official newborn session of 2013. (Little did I know that this guy would be born in 2013 and you know I have photographed him like crazy. I still can’t believe my due date is three days away and he’s four weeks old! Last night, he slept a five hour stretch for the first time! Woo hoo!) I first met this sweet family for older brother’s newborn session a few years ago and also photographed his first year. They are really so laid back and fun so we always get the best photos. Oh, and you know I love images with the Christmas tree so I was glad that we got so many. (And how beautiful are her lashes!) This newborn session just went so well - their baby girl is just so precious and I look forward to taking more photos of her and her sweet family this year!

Oh, and don’t forget - Round One voting is going on right now for the 2013 Image of the Year. Click here to see all of the images in the gallery and click here to vote!
