There is so much joy in the first days home with your baby. It is just so special to have photos at home with your little one (and so great to just stay home and not have to go anywhere for photos) and oh, I just love these. You can just see the joy and love they have for their baby girl in all of these. They also had just the sweetest puppies that were doting over their baby sister and amazingly stayed still for a few photos. It is fun to include the whole family in the session - these two just rocked it out and we did have an extra family member for help. It’s always nice if a grandparent, sister or friend can be around to help you the day of your session (or really anytime when you have a newborn!) We also found such a pretty basket in their house to use for their session - it’s always so special to use your things that match your decor and have meaning. Such a sweet family and I loved so many from this session, it was hard to pick which ones to blog.

I just love everything about this sweet newborn session in December. One of the things that I just love about custom newborn sessions at home are that they are just that - custom. Those first days at home with a newborn - they just eat and need so much attention that you barely have time to think about your newborn session. (and add the fact that you aren’t getting much sleep!) The great thing about newborn sessions at home is you don’t have to pack a hundred things to go somewhere - I simply show up and look around for the best light and we usually pull things from your home as backgrounds, etc so that the session truly matches your home and your style. I love how this session not only shows how much love they have for their sweet baby girl but will also look just gorgeous on their walls because it matches their home perfectly. And of course, I love using the Christmas tree for background during December newborn sessions. I have loved seeing everyone’s baby’s first Christmas ornaments and photographing their trees!

I first met this sweet family for their fall maternity portraits (see here.) This baby girl was surrounded by so much love - just love the images that we got with all of their family, including the puppies. (Another part I love about newborn sessions at home - photos with the whole family, including pets!) Her mama decorated her nursery just beautifully - love her mobile! Oh, and one more thing, only two more days left to enter the 2014 Image of the Year Competition, so if you had a session in 2014, don’t forget to send in your images!

So precious to photograph this sweet baby boy with his big brothers and family. I love, love, love, all the images we were able to capture of the boys in their rooms, jumping around the house, and doting on their baby brother. This little one’s mama really wanted some awake photos of him and he stayed awake for most of the session with a few little naps so we were able to capture his bright beautiful eyes. Just love the one of him smiling so big - you can tell it was right in the middle of both of his brothers giving him kisses. Since most of their days include the boys building train tracks all over the place, we had to include one of those photos with their baby brother who just slept through the whole thing. I’m sure he will get used to sleeping during a lot of activity happening around him. Our little guy definitely sleeps through a lot of his big brother’s jumping and running throughout the house. I am still catching up on fall blogging and didn’t want to share some of the images before Christmas cards were out so I still have a lot of blogging to do, but I couldn’t wait to share this sweet baby boy’s newborn portraits, taken right before Christmas.

Two special events coming soon - I’m so super excited! If you booked a session in 2014, you should have gotten an e-mail from me. (Please let me know if you booked a session in 2014 and did not receive an e-mail from me about the 2014 Image of the Year Competition.) Also, if you are thinking of booking a 2015 session, there is a special event for 2015 Clients Feb 2nd and 7th. (Session must be booked by 01/15/2015.) Oh, these boys - just soooo cute together and so handsome! Their mama had them dressed so cute..and really, I’m still in shock - this session really was one of those where I left thinking, did that really happen? These three were just so so sweet and happy together, and of course, stopped for their snack breaks. I can’t believe how many snuggly photos there were of all three of them together - you can just see the joy on their faces about having their new baby brother. Looking through these photos, you can see I had a tough time deciding between color and black and white - I just looooved both! In between modeling, I love that they brought out some of their toys (I love capturing these shots when baby’s eating, etc) I really enjoyed meeting this sweet family and their sweet baby boys!

Newborn sessions at home are my absolute favorites and take a lot of the stress out of even thinking about having to go somewhere the first days at home with your baby.
