I will tell you….this family is really just so.much.fun. I photographed most of their family last year (a few weren’t able to come) and was really looking forward to their session this year. (All five siblings were able to come this year – so awesome!) They just show up with the best attitudes, ready to laugh, cheer on each other, make the kids giggle and just laugh when kids are just kids. Their expectations of a family session is just the best – because we are capturing and documenting their family stress free. It makes me really look forward to photographing them because of the love that they have for each other and the laughter and fun they have while being photographed. We laughed and laughed, threw leaves, changed props, squeaked giraffes and laughed some more.

I’m not sure if I’m the only one that felt this way, but I felt like the trees changed colors really late this year. This session was about an hour and a half away so I wasn’t sure just what the park was going to look like when I arrived. You know I was just ecstatic to see the most beautiful fall colors (that went with their outfits perfectly!) and a little jealous Raleigh didn’t have those bright colors yet. Could that background have been any prettier with of course, my favorite, sunset light! If you know me, I just looooove shooting with the pretty sunset light.

What I love so much about newborn sessions at home is just how much meaning is poured into each and every session. Having a four year old (and almost one year old – whoa!) reminds me of just how fast time flies by and how special it is to document the first days at home. This little one was just so content to dream away during his session and did wake up for a few photos. I love that the images with the Eiffel Tower and the huge canvas they had also of the Eiffel Tower hold so much meaning.  When I saw that huge pretty canvas, I knew we had to use it for a few photos. He also had the sweetest little play mat, and of course we got a few images with his dad’s car collection. What a sweet session this was and such a precious newborn baby boy!

These two got married this weekend (What a cool wedding date  – 12.13.14) and I’m just so excited to share their engagement portraits. (I do not photograph weddings, but I love engagement and bridal portraits!) Brooke is one of my oldest and dearest friends and I’m just so thankful for her friendship. These two had a pretty quick engagement so we squeezed in some engagement portraits and reallllly can’t wait to share her bridal portraits, too.(Oh my, what a gorgeous bride!) We met one cool fall day for their engagement portraits on the farm they bought – and they very last image is just so special because it’s on the dock where he proposed.  So happy for these two – they are just so sweet together. I love that since their engagement was in fall, we were able to get few fun ones with the leaves, too. And stay tuned for her bridal portraits on the blog soon! Matt put a swing up on the farm, and Brooke just looked stunning!

I love, love, love the holidays – I really wish we had a few more weeks of Christmas. It’s so much fun to decorate the tree, sing Christmas songs (which if you are a boy mom like me, this version of Jingle Bells has the Batman verse at the end) crafts, craft shows, yummy food, cute Christmas kids programs, and of course, Christmas lights. Well, it seemed like this weekend was the weekend of almost all our holiday events – We started it off with Michael’s work party at Fearrington Village (I had never been there – what a beautiful place) then Pancakes with Santa the next morning, a wedding in Greensboro that afternoon, Owen’s Christmas program at church the next morning, a brunch Christmas party after that…And then, since we had not had enough activities this weekend, we decided to take the kids to Boyce Farms, and then we headed to Piper’s Lights. Wow, it was awesome! I highly recommend driving through, and they also have a little train, a candy shop, and I heard Santa might be there. Be sure to take some cash for a donation. We lovvvvved it. (you can see a video of our excursion here) Since driving around and looking at lights is our very favorite thing to do for the next 10 days or so…looking for more suggestions on Raleigh Christmas lights – your favorite places to go and helpful hints! Comment below with some suggestions or leave a note on my facebook page – would love to hear your favorite spots!

Images above from our family session with Wendy of Blue Lily

So thankful for so many things this year, especially the sweet boys that are in my life. We just recently had our first family session since Harrison’s newborn portraits and I love, love, love the photos from Wendy of Blue Lily. She was just so sweet, and when we first viewed our photos, Owen kept wondering why their wasn’t a picture of Wendy. (She was his instant bff.) Our family portraits were taken right in the middle of busy season for me, probably one of the busiest weeks of the whole year, and I’m glad we were able to squeeze this in. We had a special morning with friends and then an afternoon hiking. (because really, if you’ve ever been to this park – there can be a lot of walking/hiking involved!) Having a family session was definitely on my bucket list for fall, and one other thing was taking the boys to my favorite leaf pile in Raleigh. The prettiest tree that has the prettiest leaves and just so many of them. I was worried we weren’t going to get to go because my schedule was just so packed and the weather was just crazy the days the leaves were pretty and had not all fallen off the trees yet. 73 and rainy one day, 39 degrees and freezing the next! You never know what to expect in November in North Carolina, right? Well, we finally managed to squeeze in an afternoon at the park, and Harrison was in love with the leaves. Owen had a blast throwing them in the air, too, but Harrison just giggled and crinkled up his nose, which is his favorite thing to do right now, and oh so adorable. So thankful for all the giggles these two have together. Just had to share a few images from the leaves, and I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!
