So I really just love this session..such a sweet Mother Daughters session and aren’t they all just stunning?  The floral crowns they made were just absolutely gorgeous, and this mama picked out so many pretty clothes for them to wear for the session. We had gorgeous weather (Oh, how I LOVE pretty sunsets) and it was just a perfect evening of laughter and trying to keep the floral crowns from falling. (They fall off pretty easily) And can’t you just see how this mama just glows with love for her little ones? So many sweet images with all three of her girls. And don’t laugh – I tried to look up a good mother daughter quote on pinterest for this post but I just ended up sobbing and wanting to call my own mama. So many favorites from this session (Don’t you just love the one of the oldest sister kissing her baby sister – eek! She was also my super big helper the day of this session –  see image here. I could not have done it without her help!)

This sweet family contacted me when they were going to be visiting North Carolina from the West Coast to capture their family with their sweet 5 week old, and boy, was he just precious. I love all of the joy captured celebrating the arrival of this little one.We took these at sunset, and he was just as happy as he could be and so alert and awake. I love that we were able to get so many photos of this little one just bright eyed and awake. At the very end, he decided to nap a little bit and we got some sweet photos with his Mommy. The place that they picked for the session was just so cool because not only did they get married there, but the grandparents (who were also at the session, oh my goodness – big brother kissing Grandpa was just the cutest thing!!) also got married in the same spot – such a special place and I felt honored that they contacted me to photograph their family. I love that this session is so North Carolina with the pine trees in the background – such a great memory captured for their family. Interested in a travel session? Contact me for more information. I’ve been in Utah this week for a photography conference – what a great experience. I was in workshops all day from about 8:30 – sometimes 8PM. (Long days!) It was such a great conference – so many great speakers and inspiration. I think I sobbed at least once a day, which I cry pretty easily but I left feeling very inspired and I’m thankful for the experience. So if things have been a little quiet around here, that’s where I’ve been. It’s about to get super busy with the fall, and I have a few spots left for the Free Holiday Mini Sessions, so contact me soon if you’d like one of the remaining spots!

So excited to release the dates for this year’s FREE Holiday Mini Sessions. They are 10 minutes and include one free image per child. (These are not family sessions – just for the kids.) Free when booking a 2015 session, and these are held at the cutest Christmas tree farm in Raleigh. You can also stop and get your tree while you are there.

All I could say was WOW when I saw their nursery – absolutely gorgeous! And so much meaning and thought when into this room – love all of the details that Mom chose. Both of them are so amazing at DIY – they built the cabinets and the daybed in this room. Mom also made the quilt (wow!) and we were able to use it for their Maternity portraits, too, which was just so special. I love that they chose The Little Prince to build their nursery around – it’s a French classic children’s book. (Could this room be any more special?) I was reading about it on Wikipedia and it was even voted the best book of the 20th century in France. (you know I LOVE children’s books so I had to find out more about this book!) They also added in so many beautiful details to the room that go along with the book that made this room just so special for their little one.

It was a dark rainy day – like I could barely see on 540 there was so much rain on the way to their house. The big nursery window was just perfect for their newborn session, and we definitely used the whole four hours – so many family portraits of these three. I love that we were able to use a couple of rooms in the house, and also, the ones with his eyes open, he is sooooo cute! Their sweet puppy also managed to get in a few, and I just love every single image from this session.

We had the prettiest weather the evening we headed out to the beach for this session. The nice thing about the beach is that when it’s super hot out, there’s at least a little bit of wind on the beach. There were just so many fun, happy images from this session that it was hard for me to pick which ones to use in the blog post. The three little ones just had so much fun running around the beach and splashing the waves – you can just see the joy on their faces. I love, love, love sessions on the beach because not only am I photographing your family, but the session is a memory for the little ones, too..and they have portraits to remember it by. Coastal sessions really are one of my favorites, and I was really sad that the last Coastal session for this year was last weekend. Bye, bye summer – so, so sad.

Coastal Sessions are at Holden Beach – which I just love so, so much. Just have to list a few of my favorite places in case you are in town. (And if you have any more to recommend, please let me know!)

Yacht Basin Provision Co. (Love watching the boats while we eat, and I love their crabcakes and corn on the cob)

Ludlum’s – We always have to stop and get a key lime pie – sooo delicious

Ocean Boulevard Coffee – um, yes, LOVE.

Beaches-n-Cream – homemade ice cream that is amazing! Michael got the Maple Bacon Pancake as we were leaving this weekend – so delicious!

Keep an eye on the blog – dates for the Free Holiday Mini Sessions will be released next week. (10 minutes, one image per child) These are free when booking a 2015 session so if you are thinking of booking a Coastal Session next year, I will only be taking one per holiday week again. It just makes rescheduling if there is bad weather (like a Hurricane this year) so much easier working with both of our schedules. (Those of you who have already booked a 2015 session – I’ll be sending you the dates/times first as soon as they are finalized)
