What a beautiful sunset & beautiful weather the evening of their maternity portraits. You really never know what it’s going to be like in the summer – super hot, evening storms (so many evening storms!), or humid. And these two were just so natural and happy together in front of the camera. They really enjoy being together, and it was so sweet to capture the love they have for each other and their baby. (I can’t wait to photograph their newborn portraits!) They laughed and just enjoyed the session which always just so much fun. Oh, and the light was just so dreamy. It’s so secret I love sunset light, and I just loved, loved, loved the light the day of their session.

July flew by. It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over. Sometimes I think I should be checking off a summer Pinterest list but looking at those is way too overwhelming.  I have enjoyed this summer so much – trips to the beach, time at the pool (with Owen really learning how to swim) we went to Ohio, and a quick trip to the mountains. Whew. I really didn’t stop to think about how much traveling we were going to be doing this summer, but it’s been a lot of fun.

1. True love is shopping for the school supply list. Michael surprised me by taking Owen to get most of the things and on the list, and wow, made my day.

2. Harrison does not like ice cream. (Not at all.) And I am still totally surprised by this. We finally figured out that he just wants the cone, and it makes him perfectly happy.

3. Kindergarten will be here before I know it. I know I’ll cry – I just know it, but he is going to love it so much, and it will be so great for him.

4. Next year buy school clothes as soon as the summer sales start in July. If you wait until the end of July/early August, everything is long sleeves,  sweaters and long pants.

5. They now have starbucks at some of the stops on the way to Ohio. YAY!

Oh, the cuteness!!! I have loved photographing this sweet little one’s newborn, three months, and now six month portraits. She was just so cute and full of smiles for her six month portraits, and her Mama picked out the most adorable outfits for her. It is so sweet to photograph the first year and see how they grow and change. These two are just so laid back and love hugging and snuggling their little one – it’s such a joy to photograph the three of them together. I just love allll of these..it was hard not to post all of them – such a sweet session documenting her six month milestone!

According to Mom..

What are your little one’s favorite toys? Sophie, stackable rings, books, teething rings, Mozart music cube

Does she have any favorite foods? Everything!

Does she have any pets/siblings? How do they get along with your little one? Giuliana has a brother and a sister, both of whom are beagles. They are largely apathetic towards her except when they think food might be involved.

What is your favorite part of this stage/milestone? She is so happy and interactive! I love her smiles and laughs. Getting more sleep at night doesn’t hurt either.

Any advice for your favorite things that make life easier with a baby? A high tolerance for chaos and dirt

Does your little one have any favorite books or songs? She likes to chew all of her books. She likes the songs her daddy sings to her.

We got special permission to use this super cute train location for this little one’s third birthday portraits. He was sooooooo excited to see the trains and had so much fun bouncing around to all the different spots. His mama is a stylist so she definitely dressed him so adorable and picked the perfect background for this session. I’ve been photographing this little one since he was six months old, and he is always so full of smiles and so much fun to photograph! His mama also had his portraits displayed at his party – a super cute photo display with several from this session and also a huge print behind the party table which was sooooo cute! See a photo from his party here!

According to Mom…

How old is your little one? My “baby” just turned t-h-r-e-e . I am still unable to pronounce the word..haha

How would you describe your little one in three words? Mischievous, stubborn and loving

What are some of your little one’s favorite toys/activities? Ethan is a train lover. It can be little or big, real or a toy, as long as it is a train, he will be all over it. He would watch videos of trains travelling for hours if I let him (thank you YouTube!). His most favorite song is the wheels on the bus. His most favorite food is watermelon. He really can eat fruit all.day.long

What made the theme of this session so special? I knew the perfect place will be a train station, since he just LOVES trains. The theme of his birthday party was going to be trains, so I could see his pictures all over the house..haha. It is getting harder to get him to cooperate with pictures, but this session was so easy – he was SO happy and excited to be surrounded by trains that he was all smiles.

Did you have any help from other family members at this session? All my sessions end up being a family effort. We had just started potty training Ethan the day before of the session (I know, what was I thinking?!) I had to create a potty station in my trunk. I had not taken potty visits into consideration when I calculated the time we needed to leave. I was running super late! My husband cancelled all his plans and drove us there since he is a much faster driver ….husband of the year award.

Did you bring any props to the session? Of course! His favorite train, a train conductor hat and a bandanna.

Any advice to others planning to have portraits taken? Have fun! Specially dealing with little ones, they can sense the stress and will be less cooperative if you are all over them.
