After so much rain this summer, we finally got to have their family session. We even met a few days before this session, and it started raining a few minutes after we got out of the car. This was my first time at this location and I absolutely loved it – what a pretty background. We couldn’t believe it when we met this evening with perfect sunshine and light with the beautiful lake background. Their little ones were just so happy and fun, too. This was one of those sessions where we were finished in around 50 minutes, and I couldn’t believe how well it went. What a perfect fun evening, and I’m glad we were able to capture some fun family images for this sweet family.

First of all, this little one was just so cute and all smiles for her first year mini session. I love that we just took the time to take some photos all about her. Darcy is just the happiest little one, and she just starts squealing and jumping when she sees you – way too cute! We planned a super cute background with streamers which we only go a few images with because the wind was out of control that morning. We finally figured out a way to get the streamers to stay put for a few seconds. It’s been so much fun documenting her birth and her first year. I can’t believe how fast she’s growing!

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the first year plan mini sessions – these are so much fun! When you book a newborn session, you have the option of adding a Mini Maternity and three other mini sessions during the first year at a discounted rate. The first year mini sessions are only available for booking when you book a Newborn session. The mini sessions are just for Mom, Dad, and the baby (love this 6 month session with just Mom, Dad, and their little one) and or you can choose to have them just all about baby. It’s a fun small session to document the milestones during the first year. You can also book a family session with siblings during the first year with 20% off whichever package you choose. Sooo excited about the Back to School Mini Sessions on August 24th and 25th. These little ones came out to try out my new props (just love the tricycle with the balloons – so fun!) and how cute are they? I also love all the fun bright colors they wore. They were up at 7 A.M. and full of smiles at our location downtown. (We will be using a different location downtown for the August 25th sessions) Back to School Mini Sessions are for Ages 3 and up, and you can find out more information here.  My little one laughed at me but he did get in a few photos and I’ve already ordered prints – he was way too cute with that little school bus. Speaking of printing – make sure you are printing your photos. It’s so great to enjoy them and oh my, Owen LOVES looking at them. Yes, I ordered 93 prints this week for our own image box. So super excited!

Somebody is sooo excited he’s going to be a big brother. For the past several weeks he’s told us it was not going to be a sister and he was right! I know he’s going to be such a great big brother and I can’t wait to see both of them together. There’s going to be a lot more trucks, cars, and sports gear in this house. Owen has already informed us that there will be four boys and one girl. (He includes our little maltese Charlie) We are so excited and now I can start looking for new blankets, hats, etc.

We just took little sister’s newborn portraits this week (see a preview here) and I realized I had not blogged their Maternity portraits. (You can also see this beautiful mama here) We met early one weekday morning for their family maternity session and were able to capture some of the three of them laughing and running around. And you know I love hydrangeas, so while they were blooming, we had to shoot a few with the blue and then head over to the pink hydrangeas since they were expecting a sweet baby girl. (and she is so beautiful! Can’t wait to share all of her newborn portraits!) This family is just so sweet and laid back and their sessions seem to fly by. When I got home and looked through their newborn session, I couldn’t believe just how many family images we captured in such a short amount of time. Looking forward to seeing them a lot this year as I photograph little sister’s first year.

The hydrangeas aren’t blooming anymore which makes me so sad that summer is almost over. I am currently booking fall newborns/family sessions with only a few spots available. If you are thinking of booking a fall newborn/family session, contact me for more information.
