I love, love, love the holidays – I really wish we had a few more weeks of Christmas. It’s so much fun to decorate the tree, sing Christmas songs (which if you are a boy mom like me, this version of Jingle Bells has the Batman verse at the end) crafts, craft shows, yummy food, cute Christmas kids programs, and of course, Christmas lights. Well, it seemed like this weekend was the weekend of almost all our holiday events – We started it off with Michael’s work party at Fearrington Village (I had never been there – what a beautiful place) then Pancakes with Santa the next morning, a wedding in Greensboro that afternoon, Owen’s Christmas program at church the next morning, a brunch Christmas party after that…And then, since we had not had enough activities this weekend, we decided to take the kids to Boyce Farms, and then we headed to Piper’s Lights. Wow, it was awesome! I highly recommend driving through, and they also have a little train, a candy shop, and I heard Santa might be there. Be sure to take some cash for a donation. We lovvvvved it. (you can see a video of our excursion here) Since driving around and looking at lights is our very favorite thing to do for the next 10 days or so…looking for more suggestions on Raleigh Christmas lights – your favorite places to go and helpful hints! Comment below with some suggestions or leave a note on my facebook page – would love to hear your favorite spots!

Images above from our family session with Wendy of Blue Lily.
So thankful for so many things this year, especially the sweet boys that are in my life. We just recently had our first family session since Harrison’s newborn portraits and I love, love, love the photos from Wendy of Blue Lily. She was just so sweet, and when we first viewed our photos, Owen kept wondering why their wasn’t a picture of Wendy. (She was his instant bff.) Our family portraits were taken right in the middle of busy season for me, probably one of the busiest weeks of the whole year, and I’m glad we were able to squeeze this in. We had a special morning with friends and then an afternoon hiking. (because really, if you’ve ever been to this park – there can be a lot of walking/hiking involved!) Having a family session was definitely on my bucket list for fall, and one other thing was taking the boys to my favorite leaf pile in Raleigh. The prettiest tree that has the prettiest leaves and just so many of them. I was worried we weren’t going to get to go because my schedule was just so packed and the weather was just crazy the days the leaves were pretty and had not all fallen off the trees yet. 73 and rainy one day, 39 degrees and freezing the next! You never know what to expect in November in North Carolina, right? Well, we finally managed to squeeze in an afternoon at the park, and Harrison was in love with the leaves. Owen had a blast throwing them in the air, too, but Harrison just giggled and crinkled up his nose, which is his favorite thing to do right now, and oh so adorable. So thankful for all the giggles these two have together. Just had to share a few images from the leaves, and I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, this little one is just so sweet! I’ve gotten to see him at his newborn portraits and his holiday mini session, and he just has so much personality. So content to be wide awake and I love how you can see his different facial expressions in these images. His newborn session was Halloween morning, and how cute were the Krispy Kreme doughnuts they had – I didn’t know they had ghostbusters doughnuts – too much fun! And, since it was Halloween, of course, we had to take a few with his sweet little Halloween costume. Oh, and his puppies were just so cute and all about their new baby brother. Pets are part of the family, too, and I love that we were able to take a few with them!
So you know I love finding things at home to use for sessions and the trunk they had in their living room was just so pretty – I love the texture in the black and whites, too. This little guy is just so loved – I love these images with his mommy and daddy. The first days at home, though they can be a blur, are just so special. When I arrived, he was snuggled up in his chair and the days of all the baby gear flies by so fast, doesn’t it? Just love photographing these little moments.
