First of all, make sure you go see their maternity portraits here, and their first baby’s newborn portraits with that same tree. (So special!) I love this Mama so much, we have been friends since we were fourteen years old, and such an encourager and special friend she is to me. During this time, my dad was in the hospital in Greensboro, and we were probably running on the same amount of sleep the day of her newborn portraits. It was so special to be able to catch up and see her sweet baby boy.Oh, and I love their bright beautiful kitchen and was so glad we were able to snap a few photos in there while I was there.

According to Mom…

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time? Complete joy! I had such a wonderful birth and really felt the presence of God and His grace through it all..especially as I celebrated holding Eli!

What was your favorite part of our session together? I felt so very comfortable and myself being at home. I could tell my smiles were genuine because of that! I also appreciate how Rebecca gives me little hints to get the most flattering shots for mom. For example, I can trust her to tell me to lift my chin so I’m not showing a double chin for the photos. Lol(:

How did you prepare the baby for our photoshoot? We gave baby a bath and swaddled him before nursing him before the session..but he woke up right before!

How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you worried or nervous beforehand? It went so well and Rebecca was so patient during the transition times when he needed to go back to sleep or when my toddler needed a snack or break! I was more concerned about how my 2 year old would fare during the session.

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken? I would definitely recommend asking a family member or friend to come be a helper that day. My mom really helped entertain and calm my 2 year old and even fed him little snacks between smiles! I would advise clients to prepare as much as they can the day before. We still needed to straighten our nursery and bedroom up a bit that morning and it was a rush!

Did you have a sentimental item at our shoot? We wrapped baby in a swaddle blanket that I love with a Bible verse written on it that is special to me. We also had it embroidered with his name.

Do you have any other children? How did they react to the baby? Silas turned 2 a few weeks before baby Eli was born and was so gentle with him from the start. He loves to hold him with Mommy’s help and shows sweet concern whenever Eli cries.

Any favorite baby gear so far? I definitely wear this baby more! I’ve appreciated the moby wrap (easier to use than it seems at first) and the ring sling.
