Oh, this little one is just so sweet! I’ve gotten to see him at his newborn portraits and his holiday mini session, and he just has so much personality. So content to be wide awake and I love how you can see his different facial expressions in these images. His newborn session was Halloween morning, and how cute were the Krispy Kreme doughnuts they had – I didn’t know they had ghostbusters doughnuts – too much fun! And, since it was Halloween, of course, we had to take a few with his sweet little Halloween costume. Oh, and his puppies were just so cute and all about their new baby brother. Pets are part of the family, too, and I love that we were able to take a few with them!
So you know I love finding things at home to use for sessions and the trunk they had in their living room was just so pretty – I love the texture in the black and whites, too. This little guy is just so loved – I love these images with his mommy and daddy. The first days at home, though they can be a blur, are just so special. When I arrived, he was snuggled up in his chair and the days of all the baby gear flies by so fast, doesn’t it? Just love photographing these little moments.

So for a few months now, every Sunday on the way to church we have passed this building, and I know Michael has been so tired of me mentioning, I really want to have a session there. So, you know, every week I had been just waiting for someone to put on their contract that they wanted a downtown session. When this sweet mama filled out her contract, I was so excited! I knew this would be a perfect spot for their family, and so I contacted the owners and got permission to use the space. I love, love, love the way these turned out – just the pretty neutral background of the building was just perfect, and the colors they wore just popped next to the background. I also love that it was a super unique spot and not just the normal kind of downtown background. Also, we weren’t close to a busy street where you have to worry about little ones every single second. It was also pretty quiet – not a million people walking all around us which can be a struggle when you are downtown. (You really don’t want a million photobombers in the back of your family photos, right?) We also found a few props and an old door on the sidewalk.I have sooo many favorites from this session, and it is so sweet to see their little ones’ personalities in each and every image. They chose a pretty field for the background of their session last year, and I love that we were able to find something new and different for this year’s family portraits.
I can’t believe 2014 is almost over. I’m still amazed that I was doing all of this last year just a few weeks before Harrison was born. (How did I do it?!? I don’t know!) The Free Holiday Mini Sessions start this weekend (Free when booking a 2015 session) and I have one spot left, so if you’re interested in more info, let me know! Also, I’ll be sending out an e-mail soon with a lot of exciting information about 2015, so if you aren’t on the e-mail list, click the E-mail Signup tab on my facebook page here!

So the day of this newborn session it poured. I mean – completely crazy pouring down rain. It was a super dark day with all the rain, and it’s not secret that I love dark days for newborn sessions just as much as sunny ones. I love the beautiful moody light on rainy days. This session is beautiful in color, but wow, do I love the black and white images, too. This session was just so sweet – capturing the love they have for their baby girl. And, wow, she is just beautiful and such a content little one. We also discovered that the dad had just met my brother in SC while traveling for work a few weeks before the session. (Small world!)
Love that we were able to photograph her nursery, and it was most important to mom that we got some great family portraits. Love all of the sweet family images, especially that we got a few with the blanket that great great grandma made. It’s just so special to have newborn portraits at home – in your space surrounded by what has meaning to you.

I can’t believe it’s almost time for the 2014 Free Holiday Mini Sessions! (Free when booking a 2015 session!) You can read more details in a previous blog post here. It was so fun looking through images from last year to make this short little video. Since it is a yucky, cold day with both of my sessions being rained out, it’s a great day for coffee and editing. I can’t believe Halloween is over and it’s almost time for the holidays!! (Yay!) Don’t miss your chance to book one of the Free Holiday Minis – Contact me for more information!
