I love capturing little ones at home in their rooms or playing with their favorite toys. As a mama, I know so many little things change so quickly. Their likes and dislikes change, their favorite foods, if they are in a crib or a bed – all of these things just change so fast. It is so fun to have a session at home and to be photographed with the little things that make everyday so special. I just loooove this image of him in the crib smiling – so sweet! And big sister cooking in her kitchen – so, so fun. Just had to share a few images from an in home session this weekend – more images on the blog soon!

Light is one of the most important elements of photographs..it can really change the whole look and feel. I know I mention it all the time, but I looove sessions at home and I also love dreamy sunset light. Those are my two favorite because sessions at home can have so many different types of lighting and sunset light is well, gorgeous. The day of their session it was sunny but then got cloudy I think, as soon as I got there. We used the little pockets of pretty light in the house (and took a few outside, too) and I love all of the images from their session. Sometimes the smallest spaces at home can have the prettiest light. Such a sweet session with their baby girl and their puppy (Remember his super cute shirt from their maternity session?)

I know I’ve heard a few other photographers talking about the weather lately.  It could be completely gorgeous all day and then pouring rain right at the time of our session. Or, like the day of this session, it was gloomy and dark with chances of rain. At the end of the day, the sun was shining, and it was absolutely gorgeous. I love so many images from this family maternity session. Big sister was just so sweet and had so much fun looking for squirrels and treasure at the arboretum.

We met early one morning for a session to document this little one turning a year old. We weren’t sure if it was going to rain, but I’m so glad the rain stayed away during our session! Her and her sister were ready to head to the beach after their session, and their mama always dresses them so cute. I love all of the photos of them together – just so sweet. I think this was my last session at the arboretum before the roses were gone. My favorite things for photo sessions – light, flowers, and sweet, happy moments.. This was such a sweet session, and I can’t believe this little one is already a year old!

I have watched this little one grow from a few months to one year. (Can’t believe he’s a year old already!)As the youngest of four, he is a content little guy, happy to be held by his mommy or sleep in his stroller in the afternoons at the park. His mama is a neighbor of mine, and the neighborhood park is my BFF – what a great spot in the evenings. Sometimes we stay all the way until bedtime. The park is such a special place to us. All of Owen’s birthday’s have been at the park, of course, I have photos of him as young as seven months playing in the sandbox. We’ve spent nights out there with friends and glow sticks, the boys race on their scooters and bicycles, and of course, I’m always trying to talk them out of some of their ideas. (Taking the little car all the way to the top of the hill and riding it down the hill. Trying to climb on top of the playground equipment instead of playing in it  –  these are things that boys do at the park.) It’s a great spot for us mamas to chat at the end of the day while our little ones play.

The morning of this little one’s session was just beautiful, and we were able to capture some happy images of him & his mommy. Oh, and how cute are his curls?!?! He is adorable!
