Newborns usually direct their sessions – we really just go with the baby – when they need to eat, be rocked, etc. And this little guy, he was awake for a little bit during the family portraits and then he just dreamed away. He slept and slept and the sweet moments we were able to capture with his family – just precious. It is just so nice to have photographs taken at home when you have a newborn. You are pretty tired after you have a baby, right? (Okay, maybe exhausted!) Also, it’s just so special to take photos of your baby with your things in your home. This mama had some adorable things picked out for her baby boy – love the wrap, the blanket, and the overall colors she chose. When you have a session at home, the session reflects your style perfectly and we are able to create custom art that matches your home. It’s also nice to have a newborn session at home because you really don’t feel like going anywhere after you have a new baby – just trying to pack a diaper bag in those first days was overwhelming to me! Who can relate? Trying to get ready is challenging, especially if you have older siblings. Having a session at home is perfect for those sweet first days snuggling your baby.

Valentines Minis in the Studio with Balloons and Flowers? Yes – so much fun! Oh, and who doesn’t love heart lollipops, too?!? So many sweet little ones came by the studio – how adorable are they? I loved seeing all the fun valentines outfits! One of the mamas created this amazing floral backdrop and brought it to the second day of minis. Isn’t it gorgeous – the flowers were just BEAUTIFUL! The kids had so much fun with them, too!

One of the things I love about newborn sessions at home is being able to photograph siblings in their room or playing with their toys while Mom is feeding the baby. It’s so fun to capture them happy and playing, showing me all of their toys. I had not seen this little one since she turned one, and it was so fun to see how much she had grown. She was also so excited about her baby brother and we were able to get so many sweet photos of the two of them together. Big sister definitely stole the show – it was adorable how her happy little personality just shines in all of these images. I know she’s going to take good care of her baby brother. It’s always so cute to see older siblings with their babies – just precious!
I heard a rumor it’s going to be super cold Sunday! Can’t believe it could be in the 20s Sunday and wintry mix could possibly be in the forecast for next week. In North Carolina, we barely get snow for 5-10 minutes so I need to check the closets to see if I even have snow boots/bibs! It would be nice to get one day of snow, right? I just have a hard time when it’s freeezing!
