Have you ever wondered what goes on before Becky shares those amazing pictures of your little ones? Well – let me tell you, it’s hard work! I used to think it was click, click and done. Ha – that is so far from reality. We start planning a session months in advance, look at calendars and make sure we block out those days for any potential family outings. Since this particular session was not outside, we did not have to do the rain dance. But since it is winter we “may” have done the snow dance. You know the Triangle STOPS if there is any snow, or ice, or both. We select a theme and gather ideas – trying to make sure the session is unique and special. We put our “mommy” hats in this process. What is the outcome we are looking for, that as moms, would love to have for our little ones? SO FUN. The theme for this session was “Rock Stars” – crazy cute ones. I sketched a backdrop full of LP records. (Side note: Apparently this media is having a comeback, so if you have any collecting dust in your basement check its value at reputable sites). I needed SIXTY FIVE – so I scouted sites to see where I could get the best price. Thankfully for me, my friend Lisa reminded me Thrift 2 Gift carries all sort of trinkets.

I was introduced to Thrift 2 Gift last year while I was looking for a place to take my donations. This thrift shop has great programs and partners with other faith based organization that help the community locally. The idea that my clothes could end up given for free to women trying to get back on their feet inspired me to do a much better purge. This is just one of many amazing programs worth checking out! I went to the Cary store – which is big, fully stocked and well organized. I was able to bring the little ones while I searched for my items. They had a great time checking out the toys and got a history lesson when I showed them cassettes, LPs and older books. Gosh I felt SO old! haha. We also lucked out and found the perfect pink chair – that was not only a great addition to our Valentine set – but is also the perfect addition for Eva’s princess bedroom. She is not going to let us get rid of it! They just opened a a store in Apex I will be checking out soon.

Mr. Little Apple was again employee of the month as he did not complain while building the stand in 25 degree weather – or going to Walmart at 3 am for more hot glue gun sticks. I completely underestimated the amount of glue I needed – but after 10 years of marriage he is used to my random projects and they are no longer a surprise. I have to be honest and say that all the little hiccups were immediately forgotten the moment we saw all little ones smiles. Love was definitely in the air! Becky and I surely got a work out with all the dancing we did at the session – and then I sipped my coffee while she spent hoursssss editing. The end result was amazing… and modesty is not my forte! haha!

This event was fun – oh my, the kids were just adorable with that microphone. There were different reactions – some just could not wait to get in front of the mic and sing. A few needed Ericka and I to dance and sing and dance and sing…we did! ha! It was that much fun! Everyone was in great moods (Honestly, it went so well with everyone) The only little one not interested in having his picture taken was my own – ha!

Little Apple Styles and I started planning these in December + were so excited when everything finally came together. We also designed custom valentines (you can see where one mama shared hers here! So fun!) Ericka and I chatted about designs/wording and she found some perfect little trinkets that parents could add on to their Valentines. She is so great at picking things out!

Thanks so much to everyone to came to our first event of 2016 and making it such a success! If you have signed up for the newsletter, you got an e-mail today with a Save the Date for our next event. We will start booking next week, so if you want more information, contact me here.

My quest for the perfect Valentine’s Day dessert continues. A little secret about me..I LOVE dessert. When growing up my sweet grandmother made sure that I took baking lessons. Every summer she sent me to random dessert (and cooking…and knitting..and sewing) lessons. Now that I think about it, I actually finished a cake decorating course. After all the studying, I realized I was put in this world to eat, and not to bake cakes. My aunts on the other hand – they are amazing bakers. If I could only convince them to open a shop – life will be better…but that is a whole different post!

I was excited to visit Nothing Bundt Cakes – I had read great reviews and they recently opened a shop really close to me. For some reason I always end up bringing the kids with me when venturing new places. My level of consumption ends up being in direct relation with the store’s customer service. Note to store owners – if you are nice to my kids, I will break the bank. It is my way to show my gratitude for your patience with my rambunctious 3 year old and for answering the thousand questions my 7 year old will ask.

Morrisville’s Nothing Bundt Cakes is super cute and smells delicious as you walk in. You will be greeted with a smile and offered their sample of the day – it is their way to sell you to the other cake you had no intention in buying – but end up getting because your kids ate 5 samples each. Do not ask me how I know! The cakes are super moist and taste delicious. My favorite is the lemon, but both kids preferred the Red Velvet – which came in handy because it is the perfect Valentine’s Day addition to my menu. Just in case you are planning in stopping by after a movie/dinner date – they do not have available seating. If you do not like to eat in your car, or if your significant other does not let you eat in his/her car *cough, cough* like Mr Little Apple – best plan on taking it home.  sweet valentines_0321P I N this to pinterestsweet valentines_0322P I N this to pinterest

sweet valentines_0324P I N this to pinterestsweet valentines_0325P I N this to pinterestFor Valentine’s Day I think this is a great alternative to flowers. You can pick up decorated in a cellophane bag – or you can add a banner like the one I am using (Holla Michaels!) . The heart candles I found in there are also a great addition and were a great hit. Just remember to sing ‘Love is in the air’ instead of Happy Birthday – haha

Little Apple Styles and I spent a lot of time planning these ultra cute Valentines mini sessions. They were so much fun, and I’m so excited about the adorable Valentines I’m about to start designing! I just sent out everyone’s galleries last night, but I wanted to show a little preview of all the cuteness on the blog.

This was our first event for 2016 – I’m so excited about everything else that we have planned this year. Our Coastal Minis sold out quickly, but we have another event coming up in April that you won’t want to miss. More information will be on the blog and sent to the e-mail list soon.

Ericka did such an amazing job putting together the records background and tying everything together. The beautiful pink chair came from Thrift 2 Gift in Cary.
