This little one’s Mama was so patient with rescheduling..waiting for us to have a good day of decent weather. Finally, a day that was supposed to be 70 degrees. It was kind of misty when we got to the park (thank goodness it stopped!) And at one point, we thought it was starting to rain but it stopped. And I think it started pouring later that day, but we got to squeeze in his one year Mommy & Me session without any problems! He had a Mickey Mouse birthday party, and his mama made him the cutest decorations! He even let us take a few with his cute little hat. I couldn’t believe how fast he was walking – he was happily exploring the park in his adorable little shoes. Part of the fun of photographing little ones’ first year is seeing how much they grow and change so quickly!

I just blogged the first part of their family session to celebrate this one’s birthday. (see here) Yes, it was mostly about how terrified I am of thunderstorms (and we didn’t get to finish their session due to the lightning and loud thunder at the very end of their family session – yikes!) They met me at the Christmas tree farm during one of the afternoons of the Free Holiday Minis. (And if you have not been to Boyce Farms, it is the cutest farm owned by the sweetest family! Definitely the best spot to get your Christmas tree!) It was a little windy, but the light was just gorgeous! It is always just so beautiful there. We had to get a few images in her adorable birthday outfit, and some with the cake her mama made her.  She was not that interested in her cake, but she sure did look cute! Oh, and those balloons were just perfect with her birthday outfit. And I just love the photos of big brother with his mama – ADORABLE!

So remember February? The month where the kids barely went to school and it snowed and iced all month. I had one session that we kept rescheduling every Thursday, and for some reason it just kept snowing/icing on Thursday. February was the month of a lot of rescheduling! And it looks like my sessions planned the next few days might get rained out! (Rain, rain go away!) We met for their maternity session one gorgeous evening at the very beginning of March, right after all of the snow. So we knew it might be muddy. Um, yes. This session will win the award for the muddiest session. like ever. (now I am not scared of mud. I definitely get super muddy at the Christmas tree farm every year – I just embrace it because it is all about great images!) This session was definitely tough to move around in, I was pretty much stuck every time I moved my foot, and I had trouble getting my ladder unstuck. This was one of those sessions where I know I should invest in some rain type boots. (but those are so hard to move in when running around with toddlers!) Even with the deep mud puddles, this mama was not afraid, she looked so gorgeous and I just love the light in her hair! Oh man, do I love that sunset light – just stunning! What a sweet session to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their baby girl. (Can’t wait to meet her soon!) Oh, and we had to incorporate the power lines at the end since that is totally his job working with power – how cool! It is about to get super busy around here with all the warm weather coming up – wasn’t yesterday just gorgeous? I am missing that warm weather today! I often get tricked by how warm the garage is, and when I got Owen to preschool today, it was like, whoa, it’s freezing! (I am seriously cold all the time. I don’t know if I would survive in the north. My husband, however, grew up in Ohio so he does not understand how cold I am.) Looking forward to the beautiful Spring weather and fun outdoor sessions!

The weather was so nice the day of this fall family session celebrating their little one’s first birthday. Although right at the end, a thunderstorm rolled in. And I am seriously terrified of thunderstorms..like I just hate them. I am not sure what started my fear, but once in high school, I was driving in a terrible storm that made my fear even worse. I now feel silly saying that I’m scared of them, but really, I do not want to be in a car during a tornado or super bad thunderstorm, so if there is even a hint of a tornado watch, I will be in our downstairs closet or bathroom listening to the news. So as soon as the last image was taken, there was a clap of thunder and I’m sure I walked (sprinted? ran?) as fast as I could to my car. (And speaking of the weather, is it really 84 degrees today?!? Woo-hoo!) We were going to do a cake smash for her, which I’ll blog soon because it was way too cute, but the weather had other plans so they came out to the Christmas tree farm during the Free Holiday Minis to finish the session. You really just never know what the weather is going to do the day of a session – I feel like the forecast changes from day to day, and sometimes I wake up expecting it to be a dark, cloudy day, and it’s bright and sunny! So thankful for my clients flexibility since we have no control over the weather. I really enjoyed photographing this sweet little one’s first year, and can’t wait to see this sweet family again at the Limited Edition Spring Event at the end of April!

I am a few months behind in posting. (Harrison turned one Christmas Morning, 2014) but I had to share the images of the beautiful cake Randi made him from Sugar Euphoria. Harrison was not that interested in eating cake for his birthday, which this cake was so delicious, Owen, Michael, and I were definitely okay with their being more for us to eat. This little one has FINALLY started walking..like this week. Both of my boys decided to wait until the very last minute to walk, not interested in hurrying up one bit, and content just to crawl forever. He would stand in one place for weeks, but was just not interested in going anywhere fast.

It’s going to be tough having a Christmas birthday every year. (If you haven’t read the story of his birthday, he was five weeks early, so yes, I cried all the way to the hospital Christmas Eve “He’s going to hate his birthday!” I also purposely did NOTHING the 23rd and 24th in order to ensure that he would not have a holiday birthday. HA…like I had any control over his birthday.) I did not even leave the house the 24th. I really don’t like to work on holidays, but I was sitting on the couch most of the day and Michael was out running the last holiday errands so I finished editing two of the last three sessions I needed to get done. (very thankful I did! very difficult to edit or really do anything when you have a newborn!) So, I did want his cake smash… (which he barely touched the cake so it wasn’t really a cake smash. You can see the very unhappy face, “Don’t make me eat this, Mommy!?” He doesn’t get that from me – ha! Owen and I definitely had a feast eating this cake.) I did want it to have a little bit of a Christmas feel. He is our Christmas baby..and next year, we’ll probably celebrate his birthday in July, but for this year, why not a sparkly cake in front of the tree. Oh, and when you have a big brother watching you not eat your cake, he has to jump in for at least one photo. Love these boys to pieces!
