So many things I love about this session. First of all, mom’s hair color and braid is just gorgeous. I love when Mamas show up to the session with a little bit of style in their hair. So much fun! These two also just loveeee Christmas, so Boyce Farms was the perfect spot for their Maternity Portraits. It’s no secret I love Boyce Farms so much, best place in Raleigh to get your tree and owned by the sweetest family.

According to Mom…

What was your favorite part of the session? We loved having the session at the Christmas tree farm. I am in love with everything Christmas and when Becky suggested that we have the session there I thought it would be the perfect place.

How would you describe your perfect Saturday? Making pancakes or waffles for breakfast, spending the day outside at a park or going on an adventure, and then having a nice evening making dinner at home together with friends.

How did you meet and where was your first date? We met at Barnes and Noble by me running into Joe and then we started talking. Our first date was a hike.

Do you have any pets? 2 dogs, Lexi and Matox.

What is your favorite tv show you watch together? Ummm depends on the week and the mood, we have very different television preferences.

How is everyone’s December going? Are you still shopping for presents? I am super excited that I am almost done (whew!) I still need to pick up a few stocking stuffers, and I think we will be officially done. We have mostly stayed out of the stores – we did pick up a few trains from the craft store + a few other things, but mostly a lot of online shopping, which means our UPS and Fedex drivers have been at our house a lot. I’ve also found a few great things in online facebook yard sales. If you live in my part of North Raleigh, you’ve probably seen the post where someone walked out of their house and saw someone trying to break into their garage one morning. Just a reminder to keep the doors locked/alarm on/lock your car doors, too.

A few of my December favorites…

1. I am trying out rocksbox and I’ll let you know what I think at the end of the month. I am so excited (Thank you, Ericka and Molly, for the recommendation. See Molly’s great post here that finally convinced me to try it. And if you decide to try it, definitely use code BECKYBFF39  and yes, it’s a referral for me. thank you, thank you, thank you)

2. I am loving everything Kendra Scott right now. Definitely on my Christmas list, and I bought a few pieces for my Mama (Who has a piece and what is your favorite?)

3. I used to be like no way I am ever wearing uggs. I now own a chesnut leather pair and never want to take them off. like ever. I walk in the house and forget to take them off or just plain refuse to. I think I need the slipper now.

4. So, in trying to be more organized in 2016, I have ordered this planner. It has been a long time since I’ve used a paper planner but the interchangeable photo covers kind of sealed the deal. I’ll keep you updated on what I think – I opted for the vertical planner.

5. Just discovered this boutique at Wrightsville Beach when looking for a gift online, (because you know, I’m mostly online shopping) and now I want to go to there. (Who’s been – what did you think?!?) Love that you can watch their story on their website, too!

If you haven’t been to Piper’s Lights, we headed out there this week, and it’s so great. (Remember to take a cash donation) Any other suggestions for great Christmas spots in Raleigh? Let me know in the comments!

I am extremely overwhelmed by all the delicious Christmas cookie ideas on Pinterest but thinking of trying these – Owen would love them, and these look so fun.

We laugh, run around, and most of all have fun during a session. I do chat a lot about my personal life and recommendations for things that I love, and I may receive commissions on affiliate links in articles. I only recommend books I have personally read or items I have used and loved unless otherwise noted.

We really never know what  the weather’s going to be like in North Carolina, but we usually still have some surprisingly warm days even into December. (Can you believe how nice it is this week?) It was a pretty morning the day of their session, and we captured some sweet memories of the first days with their baby boy. I rarely photograph an entire newborn session outdoors, but at around four weeks, this little one rocked his portraits. I love sooo many from this session, and the variety we were able to get at the park. We also were able to use the leaves which was so much fun, since he was born in fall.

According to Mom..

What was your favorite part of our session together? My family and I really enjoyed our session with Becky. She was able to keep things light and entertaining all while snapping photos of the best smiles! I really appreciated her keeping the little ones engaged and happy. I can’t thank Becky enough for our wonderful photographs. She is very talented!

How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you worried or nervous beforehand? Becky was super easy going in regards to photographing our newborn, which was wonderful. I was worried about him growing tired or fussy during our session, but thanks to her it went smoothly. I never felt rushed and was able to take care of any needs that arose during our session.

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken? My best advice for newborn photographs would be to bring extra clothes and bottles.

Do you have any other children? How did they react to the baby? The boys interaction together is adorable. My oldest is so very proud of his little brother. Every morning, my oldest tells our newborn “I’m your big brother.”

How would you describe your perfect Saturday as a family?

I absolutely love Boyce Farms – the trees are just so pretty and such a sweet family runs this farm. It’s the perfect spot to get your Christmas tree. They are so helpful and will make sure it’s secured to your car, too. I love that so many of my clients come to get their tree at Boyce Farms. This was our last day of holiday minis for 2015 – I really can’t believe they are already over. We had three great days of minis this year – two with Santa and one at Boyce Farms. It was so great to see how so many little ones had grown and also meet new faces for 2016 sessions. Thanks to everyone who came out – I’ll be sending these out soon so everyone can finish their Christmas cards!

Props from Suzanna’s Antiques (oh my, how I love Suzanna’s Antiques. I really have to have self control when shopping – ha! Ericka and I made a trip for the Santa minis and have facetime shopped together, too! We love Suzanna’s!)

Since baby brother just arrived, I realized I had not blogged their family maternity portraits. These were taken at the very end of the day with just the last bit of light left. This sweet little guy brought his wheelbarrow and had so much fun giggling with his Mommy and Daddy. Oh, and I also got to capture his first moments as a big brother this week. (see here) I got a text early Black Friday morning, and most people know I am up super early, but I was wondering who in the world could the text be from. It was a happy message about baby brother’s arrival, and I got in the car and headed to the hospital.

He had so much fun eating a cupcake and singing Happy Birthday to his little brother (What a cute idea – more images soon!)
