2016 Valentine’s Minis | Rebecca Keller Photography

January surely flew by – and we are now 7 days away from Valentine’s day. Love, hearts, mushy cards… all the cheesy things I completely adore! I am ashamed to admit Valentine’s day was more important in my calendar back in the day, ahem, when I was single. I surely hope Mr. Little Apple is not reading this post! I think it is because back then, this day was the validation of the relationship – Will he remember it is Valentine’s day? Would I get flowers? Would he sign the card with ‘love’? Now I know the answer to each question. I am one lucky lady!
This year I have decided to shake up things a little. Love should be celebrated! The kids are also older and are really enjoying being part of all the preparations. Especially the littlest – who keeps finding my ‘Sweethearts’ stash.
Both kids are having Valentine’s parties at school and will be exchanging valentines. We scouted the Dollar Store and found several non-candy options, against their will of course! For the first time in years I did not wait until the day before to work on their cards (thanks to the RKP Valentine’s client event!) and we will be assembling together this week . Who wants to bet I will be waiting until Thursday night? – some things just never change… haha.
My little apples will be wearing their photo session outfits on V-Day. I love dressing them up for the occasion. Normally Eva’s outfit is picked out weeks in advance and my poor little boy just gets to wear something that compliments her. The order is a reflection of picture cooperation – one loves the camera, and the other loves to …eat the snacks offered. Surprisingly all his proofs are normally adorable. I just LOVE how Becky is able to capture him being his sassy little self – even when he is not looking straight to the camera!

I normally start with something I know I definitely want him to wear – and this time it was his red converse – pretty appropriate I thought! I also knew I did not want to for him to wear jeans…and found the perfect set at Gymboree. It was a mix of several collections, but the colors were just perfect! Bonus, they were all from the sale rack. Accessories can make or break an outfit – and here I leave you with my most favorite Valentine’s Day accessories for kids!
