Raleigh Fall Family Photography – Fall Morning

This was one of those days where it didn’t rain. (yay!!!) And it looks like today will be one of those days, too! Yay for sunshine. Rainy days are always nice to stay in and drink coffee and edit, edit, edit, but it throws off the already busy fall schedule so much. We met early one Saturday morning to photograph this sweet family together, and the weather could not have been more perfect. So far there’s only been one morning where it was just miserably cold for portraits and thankful this morning the weather was nice. Their session was so relaxed – just their family being together. We strolled around a few different spots, and big brother assured me he was a professional at having his photo taken. The three siblings together was just so sweet and baby sister had a blast running around with her siblings.

Oh, and if you haven’t seen the announcement, we are now offering custom wall collections for your portraits. The ordering session will take place in your home and we will design something just for your walls. (see here) Contact the studio for more information.

According to Mom…

Why did you choose this session location? We were looking for a natural backdrop to our portraits that would be both beautiful but not overwhelming.

What is your favorite family activity? Festivals, Canes games, outdoor activities, movies… Our favorite family activity is anything we are doing together.

Who are the members of your family and a quick fact about each one? Adam Hoover – Obsessed with Star Wars
Roxanne Hoover – Compulsive Baker
Dylan Hoover – 12 going on 24
Caiden Hoover – Unhealthy obsession with Legos
Vivian “Muppet” Hoover – Closet dance queen

What was your favorite part of the session? I’m a big fan of nature, so I really enjoyed being outside with my family on a gorgeous morning. As a bonus a herd of deer ran across a field we were near, the kids were excited to see that.

Tell me about the outfits you wore to the shoot and why you chose them. Since I lack fashion sense I made sure to use Little Apple Styles. We quickly chatted about my families preferences and she put together some style guides within my budget that were amazing. I loved that she used brands that we were already customers of (J.Crew, Nordstrom, Gap/BananaRepublic/Old Navy, The Limited).

What props did you bring and why? I brought bubbles, flowers and a blanket in an effort to keep the toddler “busy”. However, she found mother nature far more interesting.:)

What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a session? 1) If you’re concerned about what to wear, use Little Apple Styles
2) You can never anticipate with young kids what will keep them occupied, but know that Becky is fantastic with small kids.
3) Have fun, relax, and enjoy spending time together. The candid moments can be some of the best pictures!

Were you worried about any parts of the session beforehand? I was really concerned about how we were going to get everyone to look good at one time. It was a misplaced worry because Becky captures impromptu and natural moments so well.
