Raleigh Downtown Family Photographer – And Then There Were Four

Not everyone wants to get up super early for a session..I do have a few families that love it and it’s so great that they get the best morning light and can also be done with their photos, head to work or start their day. I was realllly excited when I showed up to their session because the light can be really tricky at this location, and it was just perfect. It was also a little cool which was awesome – I think we were all in disbelief at how perfect it was. We could not have had more fun that morning – I love that Mom put her favorite family activity is laughing because there is so much joy in the images of these three! Oh, and how exciting that there is one more baby on the way! This little one is going to be a great big sister!

According to Mom…

What is your favorite family activity? Laughing.

Why did you choose this location for your session and what was the weather like? The skyline of the city remind me and Matt of where we met and spent most of our early days together. We had wonderful conditions the day of our session. Slightly overcast with temps in the high 70s.

Who are the members of your family and tell me a quick fact about each one! Matt, Catey, Elora (1), and a new addition on the way.
Matt: He’s bald.
Catey: She’s from Vermont and can’t ski.
Elora: She smiles a lot more than not.

What was your favorite part of the session? We loved how the session was efficient, and Becky knew exactly what she wanted us to do. She wasted no time getting us in place and giving direction. We also just loved having this family time and goofing off.

Tell me about the outfits you wore to the session. We are laid back and like to have fun, so we though wearing jeans would depict our lifestyle more so formal attire.

What props did you bring and why? We brought a colorful quilt, some of our daughter’s favorite toys and books, and a few small chalk boards with a chalk pen.

What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a session? We brought our nanny who helped A LOT during the session. Our one year old daughter had just learned to walk, so having an extra set of hands to help corral her during the session turned out to be a smart decision for us.

Were you worried about any parts of the session beforehand? I only had two minor worries going into our session: 1. I was beginning my second trimester of pregnancy and many of my clothes had started to become snug. I was worried I wouldn’t find something to wear! LOL 2. I worried our daughter wouldn’t sleep well the night before the session and would be cranky, even though she’s typically a fantastic sleeper. But everything turned out great!
