Sunny Evening – Raleigh NC Family Photographer

I have been photographing these little ones since they were just four months (and one of them since she was born. Oh, and her mama and I have been friends since we were 14) Yes – I took an image of three of them together eating cake when they turned one – so sweet. This time a new family joined the group for some updated family portraits – such a sweet family with their two little ones. All of these photos were taken in one evening at my dear friend’s house (her little one had a few portraits taken in her room that her mama decorated so beautifully) We had perfect weather and perfect light – such a beautiful evening! There was a lot of dancing, singing, and snacks to keep these little ones in happy spirits.

Ruby – Raleigh NC Newborn Family Photography

Remember this family? (They were also featured here.) I feel like we just took their maternity portraits. Such a sweet family and both little ones are just beautiful like their mama. Ruby was so content and happy during the session. And wow, Emma just loves her. I really can’t believe how many photos we got of the two of them together. It was just so sweet. Emma is such a proud big sister and I know she’s a big help to her mama, too. This was one of those newborn sessions where we were able to capture images effortlessly. Oh, and don’t forget Ruby’s room. WOW. It is just so beautiful from the striped walls to the chevron bedding. (you know I love chevron) She has a gorgeous chandelier, beautiful curtains – the whole room is just perfect. One more thing – they had Raleigh Coffee Company coffee ready when I got there which was pretty much amazing. Overall a favorite session – wait until you see the one at the bottom with the bowl and the clover – Ruby is just precious!

10 on 10 – Raleigh Family Photographer

So let’s see – what have we been up to this month? Headed to the beach (Oh yeah, Coastal sessions are starting soon) Owen loves spending his afternoons on his scooter, he can spend hours playing with his car carrier and matchbox cars…hmm. what else. We celebrated my birthday with a cupcake at Maxie B’s. Their strawberry cake is still my absolute favorite cake ever. (It is awesome!) We tried out the new carts at Target (love them) and then of course, this child loves playing at Pop Pop’s Store. Even though it’s been really yucky lately, April has had me sooo excited about summer. I absolutely cannot wait to be outside everyday. I still have to finish my summer bucket list. I am super excited that Owen will be taking swim lessons. (And he’s excited too. All he keeps talking about it one day he’ll be able to go down the big slide) Mr. man will turn three next month, and I know the summer is just going to fly by!

Summer at Stelliana’s – Raleigh Commercial Photographer

This was our second shoot of the summer styles for Stelliana’s Petit Boutique. So many cute clothes and I just love all of these. And how wonderful that the rain stopped for a minute so that we could take these outside. Lafayette Village is just so pretty and it was great to be able to step right outside of the store to take some photos. It was a rainy cloudy day and the rain stopped just before it was time to take these. Thanks to everyone who came out to model – it was just a fun afternoon!

My Happy Ever After – Raleigh NC Family Photography

So I had all the usual reasons for not taking our own family portraits. We’re busy. REALLY busy. (Who isn’t who has small children?) But everytime I come home from a photoshoot, I’d look at the blank walls where I wanted images of the three of us. We didn’t have time for a weekend shoot. March really isn’t the best month to be outside (it was super windy) I mean,I could lose 10 lbs and we can wait three months right? Three months usually turns into 6 or 10 and then you’re like, oh, we never took family portraits. So, after our trip to Texas, I finally said, that’s it. I’m not waiting until I look perfect (we can all relate right?) and I spent time online looking for someone to take our portraits. We met Brett & Jessica one windy afternoon in March. They are the sweetest couple and if you are looking for a wedding photographer, you should definitely call them. Really stunning images and such a personable and fun couple – definitely someone you want hanging out with you on your wedding day.

What was my favorite part of the shoot? Probably the fact that they just let us be us. Sure I planned alot of things. (our outfits. Whew. You already know Owen wore my favorite outfit of his, I found my clothes pretty easily, but it took me a while to find a shirt for Michael that would coordinate.) I brought balloons to keep Owen in one spot for a big negative space image I knew I wanted. (I also brought a puzzle, too.) Oh, and I also wore a scarf. in March. So as you can see in some of the images it was all over the place. And you know what, getting back to the letting us be us part, I really don’t care if my scarf wasn’t perfect. (ain’t nobody got time for that) They sent us soo many images, and when I opened them, I cried. They captured a magical time in our lives. A time of running, tickling, playing puzzles (mr. man’s favorite) throwing him up in the air. The three of us laughing together – what a treasure. All of them. All the reasons why I kept putting off family portraits seemed so silly after I saw them. I love that they captured the love between the three of us. (Ok so I am totally crying now Yes, I’ve already ordered canvas & prints (yay) because what fun is it to just look at them on the computer. I’m also working on an album design because they captured something so special for us and I can’t wait to display it, and for Owen to enjoy looking through the images. Thanks to Brett & Jessica for capturing fun, authentic moments for our family.

All Things Spring – Raleigh NC Baby and Family Photographer

Who knew it was not the warmest April morning? Not this little one. She was just as happy as can be and couldn’t stop smiling for her portraits. She loved snuggling her mommy and daddy (who are really just the sweetest couple. I first met them at their maternity portraits and loved taking her newborn portraits too) Such a sweet family and don’t they look like they should be in a magazine? They are so laid back and happy to be together which makes my job just so easy. We met at the JC Raulston Arboretum for her three month portraits. It’s such a unique place because every time I’m there something different is blooming. We were lucky enough to find quite a few plants blooming for some beautiful backgrounds (I just love wisteria – don’t you?) Looking forward to capturing more of this little one’s first year. Oh my, she is adorable, and I LOVE her red hair!

Okay, a few more things. First of all, I’m just feeling so thankful this week for all my of my wonderful clients. Just feel really blessed to be able to photograph some of the kindest people each week. Thanks to all of you for making my job so easy, laughing at me when I fall off the ladder and when I go outside and look through your windows (see here), laughing at all my ideas, letting me be me, and most of all for all of your encouragement. I feel so so blessed – THANK YOU!

Okay, now A little update on everything summer. Wow, weekends have really booked up. I only have a few weekend dates available in June, July & August so if you have e-mailed/spoken to me about a weekend date and have not yet paid your deposit, please note that these dates are filling up quickly. Also, Coastal Sessions are starting in a few weeks and I only have a few spots available. Contact me for more information.

Shooting Through Glass – Raleigh Wake Forest Newborn Photographer

So I wasn’t sure what I was going to do for this month’s blog circle theme, “Shooting through glass.” Well, one day last week we were at Klaystation and I saw that the Red Hill General Store across the street had ice cream. Um, yay. We walked across the street to get Owen’s first ice cream cone. Yes, I usually don’t like for him to get messy so this is the first time he had an actual cone. We were supposed to meet Michael not too long after that and we had to go home first because yes, the ice cream cone was just that messy. He stepped up to look at the ice cream and pick out the flavor he wanted when I saw the moment to shoot through glass. (Yes I always have my camera and yes I just take photos everywhere)

He was soooo excited about his first ice cream cone. He LOVED it. Even last night, we were in the same shopping center and he just went on and on about that wonderful ice cream cone. Okay, now you can head on over to Jamie Loomis Photography to see her take on this month’s theme.

May Goals – Raleigh Durham Newborn Photographer

So, a little update on April – April was a big month for me. Usually, when I hit 20 minutes of running, I pretty much can’t breathe any more and stop. Not this month. I’ve more than doubled my running time and I just keep going.

Still not sure what happened but I love my 10k Trainer Pro Zen Labs app and using Spotify premium has really helped me. I enjoy running a lot more and every once in a while I have a day that I can’t breathe and want to stop. Yes, I’m still shocked. I’m not sure how far I want to run. For now, I’m just going to keep going.

Goals for May:

Make a Summer Bucket List

Take time to really enjoy family time/my birthday this month and finish planning all of our family birthday events for the next two months.

Journal More/Read another one of the books I got while at the beach.

Plan lots of fun 3rd birthday activities to make Owen’s 3rd birthday super special. Last year was so much fun and I can’t believe how much he’s grown in a year!

Continually work on cleaning out clutter/donating/getting rid of things that are just sitting in the house.

If I had to pick – Raleigh Lifestyle Family Photographer

If I had to pick one word for this session, it would definitely be FUN. This family session is Raleigh was just that – running and jumping, and even a surprise gift. His grandparents traveled a lonnnnng way to see him so we had to capture some memories for all of them. This little guy’s mama is just so kind and funny – when you first meet her, you instantly want to be friends. She seriously doesn’t stop making you laugh. The whole family is athletic so of couse they brought footballs, baseballs, and soccer balls. I definitely spent a lot of this session running around and avoiding getting hit in the head. We were lucky with the weather – it was just beautiful, sunny, warm, and really just perfect.
