Mommy and Me Minis Previews

Raleigh Mothers Day Photography 

Every session dreamed up with Little Apple Styles is just so much fun. I first went to Circa34 for one of their really great barn sales + the owners are just so nice. I immediately fell in love with the barn and was thrilled that where the light hit the barn was just perfect for evening sessions. Ericka and I met out there so she could see everything + she also fell in love instantly. That swing, that adorable garden shed, and of course, the barn + the steps. Love, love, love. There were other spots we could have used but just not enough time – ha! Ericka worked so hard on the flowers + the swing, and wow, just love all of the images of these sweet mamas with their babies.

So Much Sunshine

Raleigh Maternity Portrait Photography

As soon as I met these two, they were just so warm and friendly, and just so sweet together. You can tell he just loves her so so much + photographing that is just awesomeness. These two were so easygoing and fun, and their puppy, so much cuteness. Sassy, their sweet puppy, just loved exploring the field and running around and made the session super fun. And, so exciting that yesterday was this sweet Mama’s first Mother’s Day. They just had their baby boy, and I cannot wait to meet him. I know they are over the moon! I love the blue balloons that this Mama brought to their session, so much fun.

So I also want to point out the GORGEOUS light in the session. I get really giddy about pretty light, and this session definitely had it! We plan our sessions to try to get the best and most beautiful light, but you really never know what the weather will be like. We can look at the hourly forecast, but it really changes every minute. I was so happy that we ended up with awesome light the day of their maternity portraits in Raleigh. Beautiful Mama, her sweet husband + puppy, gorgeous light on top of that = a perfect session!

The Raleigh Session

Downtown Raleigh Engagement Photos

I am calling this The Raleigh Session because literally I drug Andre & Kristin all over Raleigh, well downtown Raleigh. In fact, I didn’t even drag them, I made them drive me, because I am so parallel parking challenged. I just simply couldn’t decide on my favorite spot and so I decided we should do them all. Kristin and I met at Pure Barre, and were even chatting about Andre the day of their first date. And now, woo hoo, they’re getting married in August! I seriously wanted to plan out the perfect downtown Raleigh engagement session because, how often do I photograph anyone without kids running around, and we were not going to have to worry about anyone running into the street, or having a meltdown. But I’m sure as we went to yet another spot, Andre was wondering when I was going to run out of places for us to go, and he could finally go eat. They were so patient with me when I had them run into traffic 500 times and stop at every interesting spot.These two are really just so sweet together and as awkward as it is getting in front of a camera, these two managed to have so much fun together + it shows in the images! So thank you to every possible fun spot in downtown Raleigh, we have Kristin + Andre’s engagement photos. Congrats you two!!!!

Pretty In Pink

Downtown Raleigh Family Newborn Photography 

I first met big sister + her Mama at our Holiday Minis with Santa. I was so excited to find out that she was going to be a big sister! Oh, and her sister was just precious! Those cheeks, that little smile, LOVE! She was bright eyed and awake for the first part of our session and just so content for her sister to hold her. A fun thing about sessions at home – I was able to take some portraits of big sister in her room and in her playroom, so fun! This was such a sweet morning at home capturing these sweet sisters together.

According to Mom…

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time? She’s got so much hair! Then, how much she looked like her sister, Olivia!

What was your favorite part of our session together? Loved being in the comfort of our home and the pictures of us in our environment, particularly Olivia in her bedroom and in her playroom.

How did you prepare the baby for our photoshoot? Not much aside from outfit planning.

How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out? Was worried about baby and preschooler not cooperating but hey did great, and we got some great smiles. Would have liked to get some more shots with the hubby but we were limited with his time — maybe next time!!

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken? Go with the flow

Did you have a sentimental item at our shoot? Not particularly sentimental, but we had that lamb that Olivia loved as a baby.

Do you have other children? How did they react to the baby? Olivia gushes over her sister and adores her. She is constantly asking to hold her or help change her diaper etc

How would you describe your perfect Saturday as a family? Wake up late, brunch, play

Star of the Show

Cary Apex Newborn Family Portraits

It took an hour but I made it to a newborn session I had this morning in the monsoon. Did anyone else use google maps? It was like, pretty much every road in Raleigh is closed or a nightmare, let’s go this way – way out of the way to your destination. I did see police officers out measuring water on the roads but only one wreck, thank goodness. Hoping that was the last of the rain and it is far gone from here!

This sweet family was a dream to photograph! These sweet girls were full of giggles + smiles and of course, lots of kisses for their new baby brother. And he was just as chill as can be and soaked in all the doting from his sisters. Ok, and now we have to talk about their puppy. We chatted about whether they wanted their puppy in the photos and it was kind of like, yeah that would be great, but if he doesn’t cooperate, that’s ok, which is mostly how it goes at newborn sessions, because a lot of times you’re just too tired to care about mostly everything. This puppy was chill like most of the family and rallied to be the star of the show. So many cute photos! I love when pets can be part of newborn sessions since they are part of the family, too!
