Sweet Brothers

Raleigh Newborn Baby Photographer

Oh my goodness, this session was just so precious. These two boys together, so incredibly adorable. And baby brother was just so happy – his belly was full, and he was sleepy and content. Loved their Carolina blue loveseat, too. So much fun!

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time? How excited I was that our family was complete and anticipation for Thomas to meet him.

What was your favorite part of our session together? I enjoyed not having to pack everyone up to go somewhere and having photos in places that are meaningful to us.

How did you prepare the baby for our photoshoot? Lots of food and a diaper change

How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you worried or nervous beforehand? How did it turn out? I was nervous that he would be fussy, but feeding him right before we started helped.

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken? Know what you want before the baby is born (photographer, clothes, etc.). Finding clothes was the most stressful part.

Do you have any other children? How did they react to the baby? Any cute stories to share? Thomas was very excited to be a big brother and has done great. He likes to restock the diapers and wipes and loves to participate in tummy time with William. Every morning before school, Thomas insists on coming in to give William a hug and kiss before he leaves.

Any advice to other families picking out wardrobe or preparing for family portraits? Having all the clothes purchased, ironed, and ready to go before the baby comes would be ideal as there was a lot of stress trying to coordinate outfits after the baby came.

A boy’s story is the best that is ever told

-Charles Dickens

I love photographing this sweet family, and these boys! So cute and full of life. And their mama does such a great job picking out clothes for them. One of the things I love about our styled minis is there is always usually something to explore, and that makes it fun for the kids. The Little Herb House is just beautiful, and I could really stay there all night and take pictures. There’s so much to see and look at and you could just keep wondering around the beautiful property endless. Since our family minis are 20 minutes, we stick to all that we can get to during that time. But, there is a lot of moving and doing something different which is fun for the kids. And, of course, they love looking for fish. Love all of these sweet photos of the four of them together. One of my favorite parts of the Little Herb House is the spot for such a magical silhouette!

Family minis are so much fun, and this weekend is our first family mini for fall. I think we have one family mini spot on a new date we just opened up (November 18th) and a few other dates have one spot left – send us an email for more info! You are not going to want to miss our fall minis this year – so much cuteness!

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.

-C.S. Lewis

I love this quote on days like today where right now it’s cloudy and moody. I’m not sure if it’s going to rain anymore today, but we’ve already gotten a little bit of rain this morning. Rainy days are the best for staying in with a big cup of tea or coffee and books galore. I’m a little bit obsessed with books, the library, and my kindle. I’d much rather read than watch tv..I just kind of grew up always reading. And a friend of mine just told me about Prime Reading which has been life changing for me. I never knew so many great books were free for your kindle, so I’ve been downloading like crazy. Also, Amazon sends out an email the first of the month with a few new releases to pick from for free. I heart reading so much! Sharing some more from our Sunflower minis this summer – these two were just too cute together. Their bows and their dresses, love, love, love. And the sunflower fields were just so fun to explore.

A Little Sunshine

Raleigh Sunflowers Photographer

Raleigh sunflowers photographer 9.jpgP I N this to pinterest

It was no secret that the sunflowers in Raleigh were my absolute favorite. I think I would have stayed out there every night if I could. It was one big party with people everywhere, drones overhead, and one night we got to hear a group playing bag pipes. Seriously so much fun! I was so excited (and probably most of Raleigh, too) when I found out that they were going to be planting the flowers at Dorthea Dix Park this year so that everyone can enjoy them. (instead of peering over a Greenway fence that said keep out….) This sweet boy is such a ray of sunshine, and it was just so amazing that his cousin happened to be in town when the sunflowers were blooming so we could capture the two of them together. I’ll be honest, where there are sunflowers, there are bees. These two just kept on smiling and grinning, and oh, the cuteness we were able to photograph. I love minis so so much, and I’m so excited that we have a round of family minis this weekend. (It is going to be adorbs, ya’ll!) We only have a few spots left for our styled minis this fall, but if you want a spot, send us an email quick for more info. And aren’t you glad it’s starting to feel like fall? I’m loving that it’s in the 70s today! Yippppeee!

Addis Jemari + Pine State Flowers

Raleigh Commercial Photography

What a fun morning it was photographing these sweet girls at Pine State Flowers in Durham for Addis Jemari. Addis Jemari is an awesome organization that helps orphans. (You can read all about it here) The bags and jewelry in this photoshoot can all be purchased on their website here. A lot of the products are new so they may still be working to get them up on the website. First of all, a huge thank you to Pine State Flowers for letting us use their charming shop. It it just beautiful, ya’ll. (Love it so so much!) What’s really neat about Pine State Flowers is that it is North Carolina’s first exclusively local flower shop. More than 95% of the flowers at the shop are grown in North Carolina. I also loved the unique flowers and plants they have in the shop. If you are looking for a gift, this is a perfect spot to pick up a plant in a beautiful pot. What’s also neat is this was a florist shop built in the 1930s. (You can read all about the history of the shop here, super cool!) I loved seeing the photos and reading the history on the wall of the shop. These three girls were just so sweet and helped us pull off this photoshoot flawlessly and quickly especially with so many products to photograph! I love finding creative locations and photoshoots just make my heart sing…Loved this one so much!
