Happy Valentine’s Day! Just had to share Owen’s cute little photos he took for his Valentines. So with the winter wonderland, Owen is a little bummed there is no preschool today, and he can’t take his valentines to school. (He was also super excited about the Valentine’s party.)

Today is also special because it’s my mama’s birthday! Happy Birthday to the best Mom in the whole world – so thankful for you!

I really love being a photographer – I really have so much fun and have met so many great friends. I love working, coming up with new ideas, and watching the magic come alive when I see all the photos after a session. So it is hard for me to take a break, but you know what, this little guy has been good for me. He is making me slow down and rest. (but not sleep – ha!) I had this big to do list of things I was going to get done in January (you know – when I was still pregnant but not taking any more sessions before the baby was born)  I’m realizing the big list can wait – spending most of my day snuggling little man, building legos with Owen, and online grocery shopping. (best thing ever if you have not tried it!) Oh, and sometimes we go to the starbucks drive thru and sometimes Michael leaves coffee on the nightstand for me when I wake up, because coffee is totally my love language.

February is my last full month of maternity leave before I will start working again…and I’m realizing maternity leave really is a necessity.  Of course I can’t put the camera down, and I’ve so enjoyed capturing Owen’s love for his brother – these days are too sweet. I have heard from several people about spring sessions and those dates are almost all booked up. Dates are almost finalized for the Coastal Sessions – I am overwhelmed at the response this year. I’ll let you know the final dates either this week or next week – keep checking facebook/the blog for updates.  (If you aren’t on facebookbloglovin’ is great for following all of your favorite blogs. And of course, you can find me on twitter, instagram, and google plus, too.)

Goals for February:

Finish and announce winners for 2013 Image of the Year (voting ends soon – click here!) Thanks so much to everyone who participated!

Finalize Coastal Session dates and a surprise or two for 2014 clients

Video more time of my two boys together

Update packaging/business cards with new logo

I never got around to a January goals post this month, because when having a newborn, my goals have been more like remembering to eat and trying to take at least one nap during the day this month. Also, getting everything ready for the 2013 Image of the Year has been a major goal. And trying to snap a few images of Harrison here and there before he gets super big. Just love seeing his sweet face – cuddling and snuggling him every day. It still feels unreal that he is four weeks old. I feel like I blinked and the first month passed. Though I am looking forward to more sleep soon. (I hope!) I love this image of his sweet face – not sure if I like it better in color or black and white.

…….and I just realized I never shared our Christmas card image – I took Owen out in the yard at sunset (you know I love gorgeous evening sunset light) for a few snapshots and this one ended up being our favorite. Doesn’t he look so big?

Oh, and don’t forget to vote in Round One of the 2013 Image of the Year here. (You can vote once a day!) Round One will be ending Tuesday evening.  The finalists will be announced Wednesday on the blog and then Round Two will start. Super excited about this contest + having so much fun planning a few more surprises for 2014.

You know I’ve been taking a lot of naptime images lately (see here and here)  I couldn’t resist snapping this one of his lashes while I had the macro lens out.

are such a treasure..watching Owen become a big brother has just been so precious. This is one of my absolute favorites of the two of them..(You know I have a vertical version of this already printed and hanging in the kitchen) He gives his brother about 300 kisses a day and is always hugging him, making sure he’s not cold and singing him songs. Still can’t believe at 3 1/2 weeks our little guy is still in newborn clothes. I know I am going to blink and he’s going to be crawling/walking and into everything!

It’s going to be a busy spring/summer. So many sessions have been booked in the last two weeks and I’m looking forward to a lot of newborn, maternity, family, and first year sessions. Also, thanks to everyone that entered the 2013 Image of the Year. I’ll be finalizing everything in the next week and will e-mail everyone that has entered once the contest is on the blog! Looking forward to so many fun sessions in 2014!

This image was taken by my sweet husband, and so thankful that he captured it. I forgot what it’s like to have a newborn at home. You are tired, really tired and wow, they are only little for a second. He’s already gotten so big (7lbs 13 oz)..I was looking at our family newborn photos (which I will be able to share soon) and he was just so tiny..6lbs. So glad we took them then in the very first days home (and so nice to have them taken at home) And you know how much Owen loves his brother so I’m so glad to have that in photos. You know I’ve taken several..but if you are a fellow photographer, it is really tough to take your own newborn photos. You are just super tired..It’s nice to have someone show up, tell you what to do, and then you can go back to napping and feeding a baby 24/7.  I really treasure this image..so thankful for it and for all of our family images together. A friend of mine mentioned the other day how badly I wanted this little guy..and just looking at this image and what a dream come true he is, I started sobbing..all those prayers for him, all the heartache waiting for him, and now he’s here. I had forgotten about all the time I wondered if there ever would be another little one in our lives, all the tears, and now he’s here. Our little Christmas surprise and a dream come true for all of us.

Thank you for all the kind words, encouragement, gifts, meals, phone calls, and really just everything. Really loving these days at home snuggling my sweet boys and also super excited about the first ever 2013 Image of the Year. Just had to squeeze in a reminder, too – the last day to enter is Saturday – don’t wait!
