Raleigh One Year Photos At Home – The Piano

What a sweet session this was – these little ones were just so happy to play and dance around. One of the things that their mama wanted to capture was playing on the piano – and I just love the images that we were able to get! They had so much fun playing on the piano and with the jack in the box. Oh, and the light was just perfect – so much fun photographing these two together!

According to Mom….

Why did you choose your location and what was the weather like the day of the session? We chose my mother’s house because it has great light and is well-furnished. It looked like rain in the morning, but luckily the skies cleared for our session!

What’s your favorite family activity? We love reading books together and going on weekend adventures!

Who are the members of your family and tell me a quick fact about each one. In these pictures, we have big sister Arden, who is three years old, and is enthusiastic about everything in life and little sister, Gracyn, who just turned one and is super independent.

What were your favorite parts of the session? I enjoyed the session because Rebecca made it feel like we were just playing around. It was very relaxed and Rebecca was very flexible and had great ideas.

Tell me about the outfits you chose for the session – For the indoor pictures: I chose white for Arden because it looks so good with her complexion. I had to add the pink dinosaur necklace because it reflects her personality–girly, but fierce. Fiercly girly. Ha! Her dress was from J. Crew (crewcuts). I chose pastel yellow for Gracyn because she looks so good in soft colors. I also chose something that would allow as much of her beautiful skin to be photographed as possible. I did not want to cover her up with too much clothing. Her outfit was from Janie and Jack. For the outdoor pictures: I chose the bright yellow dress for Arden because she lives life in bright colors (from Gap), and I chose the blue outfit for Gracyn because I just love the print and it was a gift from grandmother (mini Boden).

What props did you bring? I brought a jack in the box in colors that coordinated with the outfits and it is a timeless toy. I brought a toy because I wanted the girls to have something to focus on in case they got overstimulated during the session.

What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a portrait session? BRING HELP. With young ones, you need someone helping with the subject, and someone entertaining the other one at all times, so that Rebecca can get her work done!

Were you worried about any parts of the session beforehand? I was worried because Gracyn had not taken a nap as planned! She pulled through!
